Am I Crazy or Am I Pregnant?

Hi All - sorry for all the details, but I want to be specific because I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. The first day of my cycle last month was July 22nd, wasn't necessarily ttc but had unprotected sex around Aug 3/4. I started feeling mild cramping, bloating, extreme fatigue, and nausea with a lot of gas and very loose stool around Aug 8th/9th. For about 10 days nausea and fatigue continued, I had dairy cravings, I felt hot constantly, my boobs felt like they were moving into my armpits, and passed a few small sticky spots of pink mucous on Aug 15th. On Aug 18th I had a bizarre experience where I nearly vomited from the smell of cooking bacon. My bf and I thought for sure I must be pregnant. Took a test - negative. My period was expected Aug 19th - that day it came as usual but with very light spotting, turning to a normal flow but no clots. Woke up early morning 20th to a gush of blood and some clotting. Really bad cramps all day 20th and heavy flow for a while, then my period stopped. 21st - light bleeding in the morning then it completely stopped about mid-afternoon. Today I woke up to just a little spot of blood and have had very light pink spotting all day, only when I wipe. I usually have periods for a predictable 5 days and have never had any of these weird pregnancy symptoms. Should I take another test or wait? How long should I wait? I don't want to keep spending money on hpts. I also had a cone biopsy about a year ago, so I have some scar tissue on my cervix, which I thought could maybe mess up the flow. I don't know if hormonal problems could explain it or if that would be related but I have been pretty regular all my life. I just turned 34. I hope somebody has some advice!! Thank you!

You can always ask you dr for a blood test to check your levels. Maybe the hpt isn't sensitive enough to read your hcg (or hgc?) levels.

I found out because the 'flu' lasted for over 3 weeks. You can definitely do what specialmom said and take a hpt, I had all negatives my whole pregnancy with one of my sons, but it gives you a little peace of mind. Other than that, it wouldn't hurt to wait until the 16th (well your doc will probably say wait until a week after but yeah.) Good luck and keep us updated!

You can easily buy a home pregnancy test at any drug store, grocery story, target, wal mart, etc.  /they are not very expensive and basically, you pee on a stick.  Using first morning's pee is a good idea.  so, go get a test and take it!  Let us know.  good luck

Thank you for your response! How were you able to confirm your pregnancy and at what point? I still just have a feeling I might be pregnant but my doctor thinks I've had my period and doesn't see a need for an exam until (or if) I miss a period. I've been having watery discharge and a little bit of brown spotting when I wipe for the last couple days. If I am pregnant, I would be almost 5 weeks now. If I am not, my next period is due 9/16.

I agree with the previous reply.

But in my experience, I had pregnancy symptoms a week into my pregnancy and shook them off as the flu. (I conveniently got pregnant at the beginning of winter). Boy was I surprised. I also had my 'period' (same length, flow, EVERYTHING) for the first 3 months.  I would definitely contact your doctor and at least get it all checked out. Better to be safe. Good Luck!

Hi, I'd say you have had your period.

The way pregnancy symptoms work is that things like nausea and cravings don't start right away.  The reason is that we have to have enough of the hormones created by the pregnancy in our system to cause the symptoms and that takes time.  So, for most women, nausea starts at around 6 to 7 weeks into the pregnancy.

Also, perhaps you had a chemical miscarriage.  This is a very early miscarriage that in the olden days, we just thought was an odd month for our period,

I'd consider an exam with your doctor if you continue to spot.  If it is unrelated to pregnancy, then it could be a hormonal issue as you say.
