Am I starting my period?

Ok, so I am 13 and came home from gymnastics a little while ago and had to go to the bathroom. When I pulled down my pants I saw this blackish-brownish yhick dried substance in my underwear. I've had discharge for awhile now but never black. Could this be my first period and if it is, when should I expect real blood??

I do gymnastics too! I would recommend wearing tampons but since it your first period, if your coaches allow you to wear shorts with your leo, you can wear a thin pad with that and no one will see. Also the brownish color is still real blood it's just "old" which sounds gross but most girls first period is that color :)

Yeah thats the start of your period. It takes a couple months to a year for your cycle to become regular, and you probably won't have real blood for a month or so... don't worry, mine started like that too :)
