Toxic Shock Syndome

I thought that I lost a small lites pearl tampon inside me, so I called my GP and they gave me an appointment with a nurse at my clinic. She used a plastic long thing, and said that there was nothing there. However I am convinced I lost one. I have not had much bleeding since, and my stomach feels heavy. I am being silly and paranoid or could she have missed it. I feel so worried. Please put my mind at rest.

I was feeling really unwell and sick, I went to casualty, but they examined me and there was no tampon, they think maybe it came out and I didn't notice. They gave me some blood tests, and just said I was a bit anaemic. The quality of service I received at the hospital was amazing, and they did not make me feel stupid. I think I will not use tampons for a while, until I get some confidence back with them. I was quite worried. Thanks for your reply and concern. Alison.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It has been so many days that you have lost the tampon. Toxic shock syndrome is an emergency condition and there is severe pain, fever and symptoms of infection. If you are not having any of these, it is unlikely that you are having the retained tampon. Confirmation can be done however by ultrasound uterus.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
