no peroid...should i worry?

I am a 19yr old.  And I have been having my period regular and consitantly every month since I was about 13 up until I was about 18 and then alll of a sudden It stoped.  I have not had my peroid for over a year and a half now and I am getting a little concerned.  I have always been on the hevier side and my weight has been up and down over the years.  Should I just continue to lose weight and wait for it to get better? Should I be worried at all?

I am in the same condition as you are. I was dianosied several yrs back with PCOS. Its not fun. In july of this yr I started for the first time in 2 yrs. I was worried. I thought there was something majorly wrong with me. I thought i couldn't get pregnant. i am right now on a birth control that i am suppose to take everyday even during my period but had to stop cuz i was having the every 10 days and it just drained me. But having PCOS is no biggie. There are ways that u can get pregnant. I'm working on that now my self. So good luck and i hope things work out very well for you.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that, I am sure you will be able to have kids. It is probably something to do with your Thyroid gland or something. Your doctor can do blood work to find out. Also, he can give you something to make you start your period. My doctor gave me something to jump start mine and when I got up this morning ....there it was! Try not to worry. Give your Dr. a call, I am sure everything is going to be just fine. :o)

Hi, I haven't had a period in about 8 weeks, I am 38 years old. NOT pregnant. I have a Hemorrhagic Cyst on my ovary. Dr. says THAT is not causing my period not to come...so I am undergoing a "TEST" he says....I am on Medroxyprogesterone  for 10 days to see if it will jump start my period and dissolve the cyst. IF my period does not start, he says we could be looking at some other issues such a my pituitary gland. Or possible early menopause. ANYWAY, what I am getting at is that since all this has happened with me, I have heard from LOTS of women who skip periods for no reason, and some that only have them once every 6 months. So, try not to worry to much, but, I would  definitely go see your Gyno., just to make sure everything is okay. It could be as simple as your Thyroid gland...have that checked too. Sometimes an underactive thyroid can cause you to stop your periods...stress can even cause your period to stop.

Have you been to the ob/gyn? You should make an appointment and see whats going on with your body. It's not normal to not have a period.
