Biodenticals and perimenopause

I have visited two GYN and they both have told me that I am not in perimenopause according to one progesterone and estrogen test. I am not yet 40, but a yer ago I started to have chronic migraines almost every day, spotting before my period (usually the week before), change in my taste, insomnia, anxiety, and lately some urgency to go to the bathroom. I think that I have had one hot flash that I thought was the result of a large dose of vitamin D I had to take.

What worries me and bother me the most is the migraines. One week before my period it gets really bad. I am also very fatigue one or two weeks before my period. My hair also stated to fall. Al thought I have always suffer from hair loss. I am taking thyroid replacement medicine for hypo for the last three years, but my doctor said that is not my thyroid anymore.

I cannot take this any longer, since I cannot function with all this pain.I went to the neurologist, but instead of getting to the root of it he gave a pill to take for two years and a NSD that I cannot take. I am not following his treatment.

I thought of giving biodentical hormones a try and I was wondering if somebody here is on it and what the experience has been. Playing with hormones is not fun, but I do not know what to do any more.

I am eating more protein, getting my foods at the right times, getting vitamin D supplement since I was deficient and following a gluten free diet as well for the last month or so. Thanks.

I wouldn't self-diagnose that hormones are the problem and self treat for the presumed problem, because the doctors say your hormone levels are normal.  Adding more hormones to an already normal level of the natural hormones perfectly tailored to your body (that you produce yourself) is asking for misery.  It's not like water-soluble vitamins, where if you take too much, you just pee it out.  You can give yourself miserable headaches, ovarian pain, and other symptoms, from adding hormones to an already adequate amount.

Try talking to an acupuncturist and a chiro and all, first.

Thanks for your feedback. Why would not you recommend to go on biodentical? have you had any bad experience?

My iron and ferritin levels are on the top of the range. I tried magnesium for the migraines but I got hives every time I had it. I am trying also zinc, 30mg daily, but no difference for now.

Don't start taking hormones if your hormones are normal.  A lot of women get migraines from hormones.

Try checking in with a wellness center that has an acupuncturist, massage therapist and chiropractor working together, and just sort of explain what you're going through and throw yourself on their mercy.  We have a place like that in our little local town, so there must be one where you are.  See what their suggestions and treatment does for you.  You might really be surprised.

Ps -- Have any of your doctors tested your iron level?
