Breast tissue in underarm

I have a lump on my underarm.  It is not painful but it is ugly and it makes me very self conscious.  When I got pregnant it really got big and filled with milk my doctor said it was breaast tissue that traveled into my armpit and that as long as it didn't hurt it really wasn't anything to worry about.  It just looks like extra baggy skin and as a result I can't wear sleeveless tops.  I've never known anyone else who has this to ask what they think or feel.  My husband thinks if it bothers me so much I shyould have it removed.  I am scared and want to know what the health risks are.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Shat should I do about it?

hi,
I'm brand new to this site. I hope your pain has subsided. My question is what type of post op bra are you wearing? Does it have sleeves?
I am having BR surgery on 1 28 13 and he will remove arm pit tissue. I am worried about the healing process and what bra to buy.
I hope you feel better real soon!http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Womens-Health/Breast-tissue-in-underarm/show/28812#

Hi, my gyno recently diagnosed the lump under my left arm as "extra" breast tissue.  It doesn't seem to be growing too quickly, but is slightly painful especially when my bra hits it.  I'm not ready to have surgery, but was wondering what makes it active breast tissue as you stated that insurance will cover.

Thanks,
Nora

I have this problem as well! I am only 18, so I haven't had the experience of dealing with this through a pregnancy. But I have had this since I was about 4 years old! I am finally having mine removed in a little more than two weeks. So glad to know I am not the only one with this problem!

I feel better knowing i am not the only one. I wanted to ask if anybody knows how long does it take to recover completely from having underarm breast tissue removed?...I am planning on getting it done on my both arms, but i would like to know how long until i can go back to work? I'm a registered massage therapist.
