Can a yeast infection cause a vaginal tear during sex?

I get recuurent yeast infections that are genetic. My mom got them all the time when she was my age and they went away on their own. I have yeast present all the time but I don't have any of the symptoms. I was a virgin when I got married in 2006, while on my honeymoon I got a tear on my vagina between the vagina and the anus. It was very painful and bled. I am now divorced. I am in a commited long term relationship with my boyfriend but since we have been together the same tear has ripped open twice and we use lube everytime. The first time it tore open again it hurt but wasn't nearly as bad. It ripped open again this past weekend and it was so painful I was in tears and it bled. Intercourse in itself it painful and tender in that area, in all positions. I have talked to my doctor about this and she says the tears are caused by yeast but I don't understand how that is possible. Is it because of vaginal dryness due to the yeast?

Hello,
Yeast infections are in no way genetic. They are a fungus that is carried in woman as a microflora (a space-occupying bacteria that helps keep out bad bacteria).  However, like I said, yeast is a fungus, not a bacteria, and is very large in comparision.  To make a long story short, yes, the well developed yeast infection can be causing the tearing, because it has thinnen the skin.  Even with out symtoms, your yeast infection needs to be treated, and probably from a prescription from your doc and not the over the counter stuff.

Hope this helps.

My gyn nurse told me why I tear is because of dryness although I use plenty of lube. She said to use a moisturizer down there a couple times a day. It hasn't helped but I do not have problems with yeast. Hope this helped.
