Can you become pregnant with an IUD inserted and still be having heavy periods

i am having a problem I have three childern, I am also so very young and had a paragaurd IUD in place after my third child becaude the doctors would not tie my tubes. I enjoy being a mother but I am feeling like I may be pregnant again. My feelings in the past has always been right. I could tell I was pregnant before the pregnant test showed I was.  The thing is  my last period was unusally light and this month it is increasingly heavy to the point I think they may be something wrong because I have never had a period that is this heavy .

It could be that you were pregnant but lost it due to the IUD. Perhaps that's why the heavy bleeding. I have heard that can happen, but I'm only speculating. Post again when you find out. Good luck.

Like Cinn, mine have always been right.  They are pretty accurate.  If you missed your period wait a week just to see.  Good Luck to you.

yes, I am waiting.  I took one on Monday, the day my period was due, and it was negative.  So I felt relieved knowing the answer and went about my business.  I thought my period would show up because I'm a 28-day girl right on the money, but now I'm still waiting.  No sign of it.  I did not use first morning pee though, I did it in the afternoon and I'm an H20-holic so it was pretty diluted.  I trust those tests but I was reading through the archives here and got freaked out.  We did the pull-out method twice during my fertile time b/c hubby got overzealous and we didn't have any condoms - I warned him!  So that's where my concern lies.

Very rarely is a period the same every month unless you are on BC or regulated with hormones, so I would wait until you are week late to take a test.  There are just too many independent variables to a cycle.
