Can you become pregnant with an IUD inserted and still be having heavy periods

i am having a problem I have three childern, I am also so very young and had a paragaurd IUD in place after my third child becaude the doctors would not tie my tubes. I enjoy being a mother but I am feeling like I may be pregnant again. My feelings in the past has always been right. I could tell I was pregnant before the pregnant test showed I was.  The thing is  my last period was unusally light and this month it is increasingly heavy to the point I think they may be something wrong because I have never had a period that is this heavy .

What IUD do you have in place? If it's the Mirena (I'm assuming it is) it's likely due to the hormones in the IUD causing them. Mirena is well known to cause symptoms very similar to pregnancy, and if it's still in place then pregnancy would be very unlikely. If a blood test came back negative, you can assume you're not pregnant. This is just because it would have picked up the hormone if what you're feeling really was pregnancy.

Hi I also have the IUD and have 3 children and I am experiencing pregnancy symptoms also. I so believe that I am I went to the Dr yesterday and they did a pregnancy test by drawing blood cause the home preg test was negative.  Well I'm waiting on the nurse to call me with the results on that test, He also did other test too he said that my thyroid or a brain tumor not cancerous could cause these symptoms. Well I just pray that I am prego instead of anything else wrong with me. Hope I was helpful for you and hope all goes well with you.
