Copper IUD

I had the copper iud inserted on November 13, 2014 - and since then I've been bleeding period-like moderate flow bleeding (there was no "spotting" it was a period-like bleeding).. I knew this was expected as I normally have heavy periods.. but since yesterday (Nov.20/14) I haven't bled anything.. which is weird because I am scheduled to have my period on Saturday Nov.22..
I'm thinking that maybe the IUD provoked my period early as to why I was bleeding the way I was (does that even happen?).. But I was expecting lots of bleeding as I got closer to my period date which is in 2 days .. but it completely stopped.. I had very very light spotting yesterday morning when I woke up but nothing else.. and this morning still nothing.
I have an appointment for the follow up check up with the Dr. on the 18th.. but this is kind of weird to me.. Can anyone tell me anything??

Thanks for getting back to me.
I bled for about 2 and a half weeks. It's been 2 full days since the bleeding stopped. Does this mean that my period cycle changed from now on? And I won't be getting it as per my regular schedule which should have been this weekend??
Do you think that the IUD might have changed my cycle? Made it come sooner? Or will I be irregular from now on and it will just come when ever it feels like it??
Should I not panic and just wait to see when my next period is ??
I'm sorry I have a lot of questions.
When I went to get it I asked all the basic questions I had in mind and they council me for like an hour and they were great - but obviously once the IUD was in - and started having symptoms - all kinds of other questions come to mind and I get a bit OCD about stuff .. Thanks for your help!
