Vaginal discharge for long periods of time.

Why has none of the medication I have been using for my vaginal discharge working?

Agreed. Vaginas are not supposed to be dry all the time. If there is a strong odor or strange color, that is cause for concern. Otherwise, you are probably fine. Call your doctor if you are really unsure.

Last long as in what? Your vagina is constantly cleaning itself and he discharge is just a part of that process. If it's clearish white its normal but if it's chunky it's a yeast infection

I've been to the OB to determine the cause of my discharge, and everything came back negative including a yeast infection. I was told to sleep without underwear, and wash with water only. I've done all of that and continue to have an excess amount of discharge. My discharge is always either clear or white. I don't smell anything fowl, but lately have been having some abdominal pain (which could be gas). I'm also a chocoholic - mocha's in the morning, and chocolate pieces throughout the day. Could this be a cause of it? I wear a panty liner everyday or my underwear will get so wet that it sometimes leaks through my pants. When I urinate, the thick discharge is hanging out of my vagina until I wipe it. This is very frustrating and gets me concerned. I've taken a couple of test in the past, and nothing was diagnosed. My OB put me on some kind of medication (to see if it would help) at one time which seemed to dry it up, but it came back almost immediately. Please help

I know that this comment was posted a while ago but I've just discovered it.  I wanted to let czar, Chatterine and others know that I have had very similar problems with prolonged discharge for YEARS now, possibly as many as ten years.  I must wear a pad everyday and if it is a long day then sometimes I even need to change the pad because I fear that people can smell the discharge.  It ranges from gray to green to light brown and generally smells fishy.  I have been to the Gynecologist several times.  Each time I have either been told that it is normal discharge or I have been diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis.  I've taken flagyl and clyndimycin for the BV and it has always returned.  At least once I was tested for BV and it came back negative, but I have since had it.  I was checked for STD's but since I've only had 2 partners I knew it was very unlikely and the tests did come back negative.  I'm fairly certain that I've had this discharge longer than I've been sexually active.  I've recently heard about Trich, I'm wondering if that could be it.  I just feel that with all the tests that have been done if that was it wouldn

i would go see your dr. about it for these reasons:

fishy odor
period was 2 weeks early
a bit of blood in the discharge

often times diet can contribute to the smell of discharge and i hear eating lots of yogurt can help with a yeast infection for ex. however, you may have something that needs to be checked out.those are symptoms of various things and since im not a doc...

the discharge is our bodys way of cleansing itself. usually if there is an odor (like a fishy odor) that may be a sign of vaginosis. lots of woman get this. however, try not to wear the mini-pads because they can trap odors and can also trap moisture down there. are you itchy or irritated? doesnt sound like you have a yeast infection since that is usually a lumpy white discharge and the area is very itchy and red, burns. just keep cleansing yourself with a mild soap, no perfumy soaps, powders. i know that i get the same type of discharge as you described daily but not really an odor. also its not so much that i need to wear a mini pad. its kind of a "catch 22" because the discharge for you is so much that you need to wear a pad so you dont get wet, ruined underwear but wearing them could make the problem worse. i would talk to your dr. more and while there may not necessarily be anything wrong, he/she may be able to suggest something you could do or take to help since its also interferring with intamacy. im sure the dr. will help if you address the situation.

you say it is normal to have it daily.  I have clear/white/slightly yellow discharge every day (except during periods).  Sometimes it smells.  I often have to wear a panty liner or change my underweat multiple times a day.  It's embarrassing and I hate it.  (Forget intimacy!) My gynecologist says everything looks normal, but I just can't stand it and want some way to lessen it.  I find it hard to beleive that the amount of discharge I experience could be normal.  Even so, for me it is quite a problem.
