It's actually best to leave it alone when you are in the shower and to see your doctor again. The vaginosis might have returned. Douches are no longer recommended by most doctors these days. It might not even be bacterial, so it sounds like you should go back to your doctor for another exam. Don't use soap in the vaginal area, and especially don't use those antibacterial soaps, even though this sounds counter intuitive when you have this kind of issue. It is actually best to just let the shower water run over the body to take care of this. Be gentle with your private area. I guess you know now that you would be better off not using tampons from here on out, too.
Douching is never recommended. It actually can cause BV if that is truly the problem. Other things that can cause it are smoking, new sex partners, an IUD, etc..The vagina is self cleaning and has a delicate balance of bacteria in there. Douching can upset that and make more problems that help. Proper treatment (if it's BV) would be antibiotics. See a doctor before you randomly just try things. It could aggravate the problem and make it worse.
