Cysts and Surgery

Just last week I was told by my gyno that I have two large cysts and my ovary that needs to be removed.  One cyst is 6 cm while the other is 16 cm.  She said that while the left ovary is not functioning it needs to be removed also.  Next week I go for mri and ca125, I'm scared to death and am wondering if I should go for a second opiinion?

At least you have been diagnosed!!! I had one burst on my ovaries and almost died. It was the worse pain I ever experienced. Far worse than childbirth. At least they caught it before it burst or gave you trouble. I would get a second opinion about removing both if you don't have kids or want more kids. They may be able to just remove the cysts but I am sure you have a good doctor. Prayers going out for you!

I would most definately go in for a second opinion. It is your body and you have the right. Most insurance companys pay for second opinions. It will not offend the doctor...afterall you are looking out for you. Surgery is a serious thing and not to be taken lightly.
