Depo provera and skin growths/skin tags

I have been on the depo shot for 6 years now and never had a problem.  But after i turned 22 i have been noticing changes.  I have gotten some different skin growths in and around the vaginal area and have also been noticing skin tags in vaginal folds and on the lips.  My doctor says that it may be caused from the hormones in the depo and i do not have any std's. I was wondering if this were true and what other birth control options should i consider seeing how i am not good with remembering to take the pill form.

I am 22 also and have been on the shot since at least 9 grade and have started noticing the same exact thing, and I'm freaking out thinking it's something like an std! So crazy that I found someone my age going through the same thing .I am definitely worried sick over this .
