Don’t let Postpartum Anxiety Disorder transform your Happiness into Agony

Postpartum anxiety is one of the common agonies that most of the women face after the birth of their baby. However, many women get confused about these sudden changes in their lives that they are not able to define their situation correctly.

There are many people that we idolize also go through the same situation.
Unlike postpartum depression, only a few women actually know about postpartum anxiety. More than 60% of women go through this emotional change. However, mostly it remains unnoticed.
Postpartum anxiety only lasts for a maximum of a year after delivery. Women can feel different kinds of transitions in their routines like changes in the eating pattern, Hot Flashes, and sudden outbursts.

The medical profession has come a long way. Even pediatricians are now trained to look for and ask about the mother's health since they see the new mom more than the OB/GYN does. I have hope that we are moving in the right direction, and women will recognize that asking for help is a sign of strength.

My doctor tells all patients about occurrence of anxiety or depression both.  I think doctors make it much more widely known these days.  Anxiety is normal after a life change.  We all will have it to some extent. But anxiety disorder is such that you can't function very well.  So, sometimes it is a fine line between basic anxious feelings which are normal and debilitating anxiety.  Ob/gyns are now trained to ask questions to help the new mom's in their practice understand what is normal and what isn't after delivery. Women should talk to their doctors if they feel overwhelmed with this situation.  And hopefully their doctors are also looking for signs.  luck to all.
