Drinking on vacation not knowing I was pregnant

Hi, I'm a first time mother and very nervous about EVERYTHING.  I just found out I'm pregnant and also really worried because of the drinking I did on vacation. I just want to stress that I NEVER usually drink this much but it was our vacation and we were just enjoying ourselves. I had to have gotten pregnant sometime between June 10th - 15th and my last period was around May 30th or 31st. We went on vacation June 23rd and I had 4 drinks on Sat, 3 on Sunday, 2 Monday, 3 Tuesday, a lot on Wednesday and 2 on Friday. This sounds awful and I'm so ashamed but I didn't know. Can someone please give me some feedback? I think I'm worrying myself sick at this point....I have my first OB appt on July 28th and I will definitely tell my doctor but in the meantime, I would love to hear from other people on the matter

Dont worry girl! You'll be fine. I had a few glasses of wine, a few mixed drinks....all when I didnt know I was pg. Most women actually have a few drinks before they find out they are pg because they just dont know! It really isnt a big deal. Now, it would be a problem if you continued to drink knowing you are pg. Sounds like that isn't an option though :o)

BTW, my mom got pastered off of jungle juice (don't know if you've ever heard of it. It is a very very very stong alcoholic mixed drink with all different kinds of alcohol in it) when she was pg with me before she found out. I turned out great if I do say so myself!! :o)

Congrats on your pregnancy!
Dont let it eat you up that you drank. It's okay... Most of us have drank during the first month of our pregnancies not knowing that we were pregnant.
I drank a bottle of wine every night for the first month of my pregnant. The night I found out, was Oct 1st, I had 2 glasses of wine at dinner.. Then on the way home we picked up a HPT, (my period wasnt even late)... and PREGNANT! I havnt drank since, and she's now 5 weeks old and as healthy as they come.
For such tiney embrios, they sure can put up with alot.

DOnt stress yourself out, it's not good for the lil thing. :-)

You will be fine. I got pregnant about the same time you did (10th) and I went away with the girls the weekend of the 23rd. I took a test Friday before I left and it was negative. Well when I got back Monday night I still didn't have my period. I took a test Tuesday night and it was positive. I callled my dr right away on Wednesday, I was really scared because I had a previous m/c. She said I will be fine. If it will make you feel better, talk to your dr about it. Mine told me that my body will protect the baby from the alcohol. Good Luck and Congratulations!!!!

I drank alot when I was pregnant. I also am not a drinker but I had beers at the baseball game and margaritas at a few summer parties.  Not knowing I was pregnant at the time. The pregnancy was a surprise but a joyful one. My son turned out great.  He is now ten and there never were any problems because of the alcohol I consumed during that time. You should probably start taking prenatel vitamins as well if you have not started already. Hope this info helps.

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival!!  That's so exciting!

I know of many women who actually drink through their entire pregnancy and have very healthy babies.  However, I'm not saying this is safe and something an expectant mother should do.  However, since you know now, just stay on a good diet and you should be fine.  i'm sure it happens to a lot of other women, so don't beat yourself up over it.

Congrats again!!

your baby should be fine, this has happened to many women!! I am young and I've seen a few of my girlfriends get pregnant over the years, all during which they still partied until they found out they were pregnant, and they've all gone on to have perfectly healthy babies.
your body is smart, and it will damage or harm your body before it will, the babies.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy.  You have to stop feeling bad about drinking while you pregnant, its not as if you knew and whats done cant be undone.  Babies in the womb feel their mothers stress so now the most sensible thing to do is follow your doctor/midwifes instructions, eat healthy... plenty of fresh fruit vegetables and maybe a iron supplment (check with your health professional) exercise taking good care of your changing body and that of your unborn child and msot of all enjoy the miracle growing inside of you.  Remember to rest as much as you can as youll be VERY busy once your baby arrives.  GOOD LUCK!!
