Early detection tests

Hi all,

Was wondering if those early detection pregnancy test are really as accurate as they say? I took one this morning and it was negative but I have been having some pregnancy symptoms such as swollen and tender breasts, lower abdominal cramping, nausea etc. This has been going on for 2 weeks already.  Period is only due on Friday though but I thought I'd test anyway.

Oh, well----  I'd wait until your period is supposed to show then since it is already 4 days until and then test on that day if it does not appear.  I know it is so hard waiting!  I've been there.  I'll cross my fingers for you dear!

Hi, thanks for your insight. I should probably have mentioned that today is Monday here in sunny South Africa,so it is just 4 more days till period is due.

Hi there and welcome.  Well, the Early Response brand is one I have personal experience with.  The box says it will give a positive result as early as 4 days before your period is due.  And it did for me with my son!  I'd say if your period is due on Friday, today would still be too early to pick up enough hormone.  However, symptoms are pretty unusual at this early I pregnancy.  Those are also symptoms of PMS.  I had no symptoms before my period was due and nausea starts on average for women at about 6 to 7 weeks into the pregnancy because the hormones have to accumulate enough to cause the symptom.  So, I'm not sure if your symptoms are related, however, take a test in a day or two if you are using Early Response for a more accurate result.  Good luck!
