Oh,YES.I know what you meanwith not tasting things the same.I am 5 wks preg. & cannot eat a thing! Or smell for that matter.I get nauses.I still have'nt found my food?Tums are my life.Good luck..nanis
I know what you mean about food not tasting the same. Last night when i got home from work I had a bowl of Cinnamin Toast Crunch. They tasted funny, I don't think I want to eat them anymore. I have also noticed that I nearly choked on my Syliva like three times today, I don't remember this with my first. Just goes to show that no two pregnancy's are alike.
Cheese is fine as long as it is from pasteurized milk. This is the law in the U.S., just look at the label and if it was made from milk that was pasteurized and/or made in the U.S., you can eat it. Soft cheese made in Europe, such as genuine Roquefort or Brie, is not considered safe across the board because there, it is permissible to make it from unpasteurized milk, which can contain undesirable bacteria (doesn't make you sick but can hurt the baby). If you eat cheese made here, even if it is soft, you are safe.
To avoid the listeria risk, always keep your deli meats really fresh, and cook them for a few minutes, or microwave them briefly, to kill any surface bacteria before you eat them.
I also recommend ginger snaps. I didn't love them before I was pregnant, but boy did they help the heartburn. Ginger tea too.
Good luck!!!

I know how you feel about nothing sounding good. until I was about 15 weeks I lived on PB sandwiches and Applesauce.
I never kept up with what to eat/ not to eat. I just ate what tasted good. i was able to eat, but got a little icky feelin at night. Just keep tryin to eat what ya can. I really don't see whare tea would hurt you. I drank it the whole time I ws pg. I live in the south so, it's a staple here. I'd die without it. i don't drik sasafras (sp) tea though. I have heard it can be bad for ya in large amounts.Good luck!
I would ask your Dr., some teas are okay, I think you are supposed to stay away from green tea and best to go with decaf, but I would just ask the nurse. I know that soft cheese is bad, but a lot of the stuff you find at the grocery store is okay. Deli meat they just suggest cooking first if you eat it. I know what you mean about nothing tasting good. I'm just now getting to the point where I can enjoy eating, but I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow and have yet to put back all of the weight I lost due to morning sickness, let alone any more. (I have put on 3 lbs. though, yay.) At least you can eat fruit, maybe try to sneak in some veggies, but stick to what you can eat. I have been on a salad kick and put some chicken breast in there too. Good luck!
