Extremely itchy labia near vagina, no discharge

Ok, so I've been putting up with on again, off again itching for months on my labia, near my vaginal opening. Never "diagnosed" with HPV but I did get rid of a suspected wart this past year. Can you have a bacterial infection without discharge? It drives me CRAZY sometimes, the only thing that calms it is gold bond ointment, which is minty and refreshing but I'd like no itch. No "rash" that I can see, unless I give in and scratch. I take cranberry supplements to keep me flushed out for a UTI, which I was treated for last year. My doctor is unsupportive, and unhelpful-told me was due to regrowth from not getting waxed. I just want some facts to arm myself with before trying the doc (new doc) office again.

Any suggestions?? All you cooch experts feel free to speculate.

Just an update - I am sad to say the relief I experienced must have been in my head, because it is STILL there and just as intense as ever.  I cannot keep paying all this money for over the counter numbing creams.  This is just insane...surely there is something that will cure this.

Finally got resolution! The itch was CRAZY intense and I was absolutely getting no sleep.  Going through tubes of maximum strength vagisil weekly and little to no relief.  I woke up every hour during the night to walk to the bathroom and apply cream to get me through the next hour of sleep. I was on a weeks worth of Diflucan and then a couple days of Flagyl...which by the way exasperated the symptoms 100 times! Finally, saw a different gynecologist and she prescribed me Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream.  Wow, instant magic!  She said I was already on the mend anyway...didn't think I had any kind of vaginal infection left, but the cream would take care of the "outer" itch and burn....which by the way was in my rectum too.  A little history...I had been on antibiotics, which caused diarrhea, which contained yeast and spread to the entire area and probably caused a bacterial infection.  Anyway...the cream worked like MAGIC and I love her for it.  The tube also says I have 45 refills!!  Oh thank God for this kind woman who brought me relief and has allowed me to get back to work and living my life and loving my family.

FINALLY!!!!! I have got relief from this horrible itching that I have had for over a year.  I  got a tube of maximum strength HYDROCORTISONE CREAM 1%, and put it very lightly on any area that itched.  My itching occurred mostly at night but it happened also during the day, occasionally.  I thought that I was going to have to live with this itching indefinitely. When I first used it, it burned because my skin was so raw and sometimes bleeding.  But as it started to heal my skin, it did not burn as much.  I also wash right after I pee as urine does irriitate the raw skin.  I have 85% relief from the itching only after 3 weeks.  I truly am blessed to have found something that works after trying many, many products with no luck.
