Had tampon stuck in me for 3 weeks

3 weeks ago I had sex with my boyfriend while I had a tampon in me. I thought I had taken it out but i was very wrong. I started noticing a very strange (and gross) smell when i tried having sex again. I thought it was a yeast infection or something. Earlier this morning i had him check and sure enough he pulled it out. A few days ago I started getting really sick. Sore throat, headache, coughing, body ache, and very itchy skin. I'm worried about TSS. 3 weeks is a very long time to have a tampon in.

I don't have a high temp, yet. I'm going to make an appointment this week. I'm just kind of freaked out right now, but i know TSS is rare so maybe I'm fine. Thanks for the help!

Your own family doctor should be able to help. If u havea high temp and flu like symptoms I would definitely seek prompt medical advice! Good luck!

I would go see a doctor. I'm pretty sure if you had TSS, you would be VERY ill by now. But not 100% how fast it kicks in etc. But definitely go see a doctor. It's essential that if you're going to use tampons, you remove it every 4-6 hours and make sure you remove the last one when your period is finished.
