Yeast infection every time after sex?

So I've got a long one here.. Starting in December I got back together with my boyfriend whom I hadn't been with in about 2 months. We got back together and I experienced my first yeast infection. I used monistat and the symptoms went away, and waited a week to have sex. The sex was slightly painful and had a little amount of spotting afterwards. Well, the yeast infection came back right away... we went though this cycle of me taking monistat and getting the infection about 2 days after having sex so I went to the doctor. Was prescribed diflucan and the single dose didn't work so I took two more, and my boyfriend took one dose. We waited 2 weeks almost to have sex again and this time it still was sort of painful, with the light spotting. My yeast infection came back AGAIN. Im not sure what to do. Does he need to be treated again? I am currently using terazol cream and we aren't having sex until this is all figured out. ALSO: we don't use condoms. The entire year we were together before we broke up were fine, and now we aren't? I eat a lot of sugar so I am reducing my sugar intake immediately, but does my boyfriend need to go to the doctor as well?
