The truth is, not sure what signs you are equating to pregnancy before you even would have started your period.  Really, pregnancy has few early signs.  As stated accurately above, most of what women think are early pregnancy signs when desiring pregnancy are related to pms.  And when we are trying to get pregnant, we feel every twinge, pain, or blip our body does.  I tried for a good while to conceive so was in that boat too.

So, again, I wouldn't try to judge if you are pregnant early on by symptoms. They are VERY subtle if present at all before 6 to 7 weeks into a pregnancy.  The reason is because what CAUSES the symptoms is the hormones the pregnancy produces. Those hormones have to be in enough abundance to cause ANYTHING and that takes time.  If you don't have enough to get a positive pregnancy test, you don't have enough to cause symptoms.  So, women begin to have nausea on average at weeks 6 to 7 into pregnancy for example.

So, yeah.  I guess you can live as if but once your period comes and it has been the time your period was due and you take a pregnancy test and it is negative, it is most likely you are not pregnant.

The hardest part is that PMS symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are essentially the same.  Unless your period was just spotting a couple days, I would still count it as a regular period.  The heaviness can vary from month to month.

If you want to take a home test, go ahead, but mostly, I'd try not to stress about it.  It can take months and months to get the timing just right.  Relax and enjoy the ride!  Stress will only work against you.

Live like you're pregnant.  I know some women begin pre-natal vitamins early.  It's good to quit drinking alcohol, quit smoking, and to eat healthy and exercise to keep your body healthy and ready.

Do note that having sex daily will be counteractive to getting pregnant.  Every other day or so works better.

Good luck!
