Endometrial ablation is usually done in an outpatientor hospital. The procedure may be done using a local or spinal anesthesia, sometimes they put you into a twlight sleep,,drs usually use heat or freezing chemicals to take off edometrial layer,,,seems to be more common now than the D&C method,,,,in theory it should work...as for reccomeding it,,,its a minor procedure,,you say you are suffering and your bleeding is interfering with activities of daily living,,,so yes, I would say give it a chance,,check out the hysterectomy forum for more info and ladies who have posted on the same subject...
Hi. I had what was called a Lapraoscopy for severe Endometrioisis when I was in my late 20's. Gyno swore that I would end up having to have a hysterectomy though and acutually tried to encourage me to have one.
I declined the Hysterectomy and took the Lapraoscopy instead. She said I would have to have a Lapraoscopy almost every year or two if I didn't have the Hysterectomy. I said no to the Hysterectomy.
Well, this is now approx. 17 yrs. later and I have had no problems with pain, extreme cramps, heavy bleeding, etc. associated with Endometriosis ever since. I also add prayer at the top of my list.
Every one's case is different though. I hope you get well soon and receive the answers and help you need. Hang in there. I know its tough to go through all that pain. But there is help for you.
Blessings and Pleasant thoughts to you.
