Intense itching on outside of vagina and anus (negative for candida)

I'm writing in to see if I can find anyone else who has gone through something similar.

I have been having INTENSE itching externally on my vagina all the way back to my anus. It's insane, it can be really itchy in the morning, tone down through the day, and then come back with a vengeance at night. The anus itching is probably the worst out of the two. I just got my DNA probe back and it said negative for candida, Gardnerella, and Trichomonas which totally blows my mind. How can that be? I also read on some other forums that this itchiness could be due to dryness? It doesn't 'seem' dry down there but I'm hesitant to put vaseline down there because I fear the 'feeding' of anything that might like a moist warm place. I suppose candida would like this but if I tested negative, I'm assuming it might not be a bad thing to try. If a test says negative for candida, could I still have candida issues in my gut that could be causing this...? So confused and desperate. Appreciate any info

Anyone else have any answers? Or similar situation? I have no itching internally whatsoever. It's all on the outside.

Thanks!
