I have had mittleschmirtz for about 20yrs!! I suffer terrible pain for approx 2-3 days during ovulation!! And yes my  pain tends to be mainly on the right side as well, occasionally it moves over to the left!! I take a couple of ibuprofen and apply heat!! That usually provides enough relief to carry on with my life!! And I have been able to conceive 5 times, unfortunately I lost 2 babies, but I am the proud mother of 3 beautiful children!! So it is possible for women with mittleschmirtz to have children! Good luck , my prayers are with you!!

I have had Mittleschmirtz for over 10 years and also have endometriosis and adenomyosis. My GYN said that the pain is actually caused by the fluid that spills into your pelvic area (usually blood) when the cyst burst (she said it causes pain because of the pressure of the fluid) and subsides when the fluid is reabsorbed, usually about 2-3 days. Best wishes trying to conceive, it's tricky, but very possible. My husband and I finally adopted our beautiful son after trying for over 8 years of surgeries, treatments and many rounds of IVF. God bless you!

how long should mittleschmirtz last? i often experience pain on either side (usually worse on right side) for about 3 days around ovulation time. As I have been trying to conceive for two years I am never sure which day i would actually be releasing an egg. Why does the pain, which is often quite severe, last for this length of time? I assumed that I would only get pain when the egg was actually released. Does anyone have any advice?

I have experienced that terrible pain on right side, sometimes on the left, but never right & left at same time, for 15+ yrs. It only happens during ovulations and it is called Mittleschmirtz(spelling?) Doc & info found says it happens when the egg is released from the folicle during ovulation. I can understand the pain you are feeling having lived with what I have named Ms.Schmirtzy & used as birth control method for many, many yrs.
I have also had a cyst rupture on right side. I had severe lower back pain on right side, then all of a sudden felt like something tore around the ovary area and the back pain subsided. Knowing what had caused the pain, an ultrasound 3 days later confirmed it. For myself, this is what I do...drink plenty of water, Ms. Schmirtzy makes me feel bloated, and for some reason when I do #2, it takes some of the pressure off my back & leg...take ibuprofen as recommended on bottle...do stretches a little longer in the mornings for that region of the body. If it is Mittleschmirtz, it is not going until ovaries go, cyst aren't going until ovaries go. Seek 2nd & 3rd and so on opinions if you need to. Myself, I'd would rather learn ways to beat the pain than to get rid of my ovaries. Ever tried yoga?

HI I READ YOUR POST,SORRY I HAVEN'T POSTED SOONER.THE OVARIAN CYST YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT,THAT ARE FILLED WITH PINK FLUID ARE HARMLESS.IT IS IN THEY ARE SOLID CYSTS,THAT YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT.YOU SAID THAT YOUR FAMILY HAS ENDOMETRIOSIS IN IT.SO THERE IS A GENETIC REPRODUCTION THROUGH GENES.DID YOUR MOTHER HAVE ENDOMETRIOSIS?YOU WILL HAVE CYST ON YOUR OVARIES.I DID.I HAD A PARTIAL HYSTERECTOMY LAST YEAR.I STILL GET CYST ON MY OVARIES.MY GYNECOLOGIST DID NOT WANT TO REMOVE THEM BECAUSE OF MY AGE.STARTING HORMONE THERAPY AT AN EARLY AGE IS HARMFUL SHE TOLD ME.I AM GOING TO TRY AND KEEP MY OVARIES FOR 10 YEARS.THEN I WILL HAVE THEM REMOVED.DOES YOUR DOCTOR THINK YOU HAVE ENDOMETRIOSIS?AND IF SO WHAT IS THERE TREATMENT PLAN?IF IT IS NOT A SEVERE CASE THEY DO NOT DO SURGERY,THEY WILL GIVE YOU MEDICINE TO STOP YOUR PERIODS UNTIL YOUR UTERUS HAS TIME TO HEAL.THEY WILL DO THAT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THEY DO SURGERY,IF MEDICINE DOES NOT CLEAR IT UP.WHEN YOUR CYSTS RUPTURE DO YOU HAVE THE DISCHARGE COME OUT?WHEN I HAVE A CYST TO RUPTURE THE FLUID COMES OUT,AND IT IS A LIGHT PINK COLOR.YOU NEED TO SEE A GOOD GYNECOLOGIST,ONE THAT WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU,AND THAT WILL LISTEN TO YOU.VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A DOCTOR THAT WILL LISTEN TO THERE PATIENTS.I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF.TNT406.

HI, I'm 21. My doctor has found two cysts one on both ovaries , thickening of my uterine lining and my cervix looks "irratated" so far they've tested for almost every possible infection and monday they tested for cervical cancer , they say the results come back in two weeks. I've read that when testing for reproductive cancers usually they test for cervical first. has anyone had a reproductive cancer that can talk to me?
