Help Please! Brown Discharge!

Good Afternoon,

I have been worrying about this dark brown discharge I have had for the last 5 days now. I am having lower abdominal pain on my left side also. Sometimes when I am ovulating I will get a sort of discomfort or light pains but I know I am not ovulating because I am due for my period in a few days.  I started birth control over 3 months ago & have not once has this random spotting/brown discharge.  We haven't been 100% safe either in the last couple of months. I am wondering if this is normal, if I could be pregnant, or what else it could be!! If anybody has any ideas or advice please let me know!

I called the doctor & they want to see me this afternoon to check for infection & pregnancy.  I just hope that it is just old blood, I just have never had it before.

Strange how your body changes so often.

Last month when I got my period it was only about a day & a half so maybe that is what is causing this because I didn't have a long enough period.  Thank you both for your words & advice

The brown discharge is just old blood. If you start to notice a real bad odor go visit a gynecologist.

I wouldn't be too worried though. It's probably nothing.

Well I can be all over the place. And I can spot for 2 weeks sometimes. BUT I'm not on birth control right now. So IF it's been 6 days I'd call the DR. Could be nothing though. Sometimes that does just happen. Maybe just talk to the nurse and see what they say. They will let you know what you should do.

How close do you spot before your period?  I mean I am not due until the 24th and I have now been spotting 6 days, that is why I am worried...plus the discomfort on my lower left  side...

Thank you so much for getting back to me!

It's possible you could be pregnant. BUT birth control CAN make you spot, even IF it didn't the first few months. and it could be because you are due in a few days. I spot beofre I get my period too.
