Jobs???

Hello all....I know in a previous post, I had mentioned I have a good job.  Well, I do.

But....I'm looking for a new one.  I'm really into sports and marketing. I currently do marketing.  I would like to stay in the field....

Anyone have any suggestions?  Anything from how to job search to landing a job???  I think I'm a pro at this, but I can never get too many ideas / suggestions! I am currently doing the regular career builder, monster, craigslist, etc.... I am probably missing something right under my nose but no one is telling me it's there.

Thanks for the help!  ;-)

Or you might end up like me and find a man and still be the breadwinner in the house! I miss being a domestic engineer, I am thankful I was able to that for a while with my first husband. Don't get me wrong, I am insanely crazy for my hubby now and he does a great job helping with the kids! (He works from home).

Make sure you make an appt with a headhunter. They will also give you advice on your resume, etc. Good luck to you. I wish I had the courage to change jobs.

Sometimes, ya gotta just take it in the A** to get one too.

No, all jokes a side.....I'm a domestic engineer, or some call us Mama's. What-ever. I run a household I have flexible hours, recess, and I'm loved by my boss's. I do wake up calls, cook ,make lunches, wash clothes, sweep floors, dust, provide a taxi service, organize parties, councill , run  erronds, I get to shop, manage money and keep a budget  much, much more - can't type it all but,it's a great job. I love it !

LOL to BJ - are you suggesting she becomes a hooker???? JK.

Since you know the kind of work you would like to do I would highly recommend sending out a resume and covering letter to all appropriate companies in your area that you would be interested in working for - basically sell yourself to them!  You can also go to the websites of many companies and submit your information online.  I prefer to do both and it doesnt hurt to make an appointment with a manager at a company and just introduce yourself, demonstrate your interest in the company, and hand them you CV in person if at all possible.

These days, more than half of jobs are filled BEFORE they are even advertised.  What I mean by this is if the company has someone they feel is appropriate for a position (could be an internal job change/promotion or they have someone in mind who's information they already have on file) they are obligated (usually) by law to advertise the position even though they may have already found the right candidate for the job - basically advertising the job is just going through the legal red tape.

I have had 5 jobs, to date, and NONE of them were advertised until AFTER I had already been offered the job! I got these jobs by sending the appropriate people my information and when a job opening arose VOLLA, they looked through their files and decided I was compatible with their needs - I also had two interviews for jobs that werent advertised but didnt get those.

I would LOVE to be a "domestic engineer..."  but....I'm missing my main source of income! (hence, a man!) lol!   One day when I get married and start a family, that is what I plan on doing!

Until then...

I have a thought!  Sports Medicine Hospitals.  Seriously, I worked for a large healthcare corporation in business development.  We had several orthopedic hospitals in the Houston area, which is were I live.  Anyway, our marketing staff for those facilities were sports fanatics as well.  It did help relate well with the doctors as they were sport fans too.  Plus the added benefit of attending sporting events with VIP passes.

Just a thought,
Shawn

don't worry too much about a man being in your life. as soon as you stop looking and thinking about it, I'm sure he will turn up when you least expect it.
