Long, light period

I am 27 years old and normally have a short and heavy period... however this month it's a. It different. Rather than my normal 5-6 days I am currently on day 8 with a very light period. It's almost like spotting until I have a BM then it's just a tad bit heavier. This has never happened before which is why idk if I should be freaked out. PCOS runs in my family but I don't know if this could be a cause. How long should I wait before going to the doctors? More information: I recently started having sex with my boyfriend about a month and a half ago. (This is the first time in over a year since having intercourse). Is there something wrong with me?
