vaginal worms????

i really need some urgent help. I think I have some kind of parasite living inside my vaginal area, and also my rectum. This has been going on for several months. I have been to the hospital E.R. three or four times due to this and each time they put a scope up inside my vagina and they can't find anything, but i feel this worm-like movement just inside the vaginal cavity.  I also feel it in the sole of my left foot. I don't know what this is--- ihave already tried Ivermectin for 5 days straight---with no results. i still feel them moving around. I  thought at first it was scabies--but I dont have any lesions on my skin. I can feel them try to get into my eyes, ears, nose, ,mouth, anywhere they can get in. It all started one nite i way almost asleep and something bit me inside my vaginal area. A few days later, i started feeling the worm-like movement. I have tried all kinds of things to kill these things inside me---they dont even die from antibiotics either. Please help me figure this out--im scared.

First of all you are making a HUGE mistake going to the ER 3-4 times for a gynecological problem. ER doctors and nurses specialize in urgent, emergency care -- NOT in gynecology. Repeatedly going to the ER will not solve the problem. You need to FOLLOW UP with a specialist -- an ob/gyn, obstetrician/gynecologist who specializes in treating the female reproductive organs, of which the vagina is only one part.

Secondly, there are a number of disorders that can cause you to feel like you have worms or insects crawling in you or on you. They can be dermatological problems (skin), immunological (allergic reactions or autoimmune disorders), neurological problems (problems with the nerves), substance abuse related (addiction), and psychiatric (mental illness related).

The ER is NEVER going to be able to figure out which it is -- they will only be able to do a pelvic exam on you, swab you for STDs, and let you know if you are pregnant or have an STD. ERs are not doctor's offices and they are not clinics, although I know many, many people think that they are. ERs are NOT intended to follow your chronic health problems and treat them regularly. That is not what the ER is for and it is not what they do best. You hit your head and want to rule out a skull fracture? Go to the ER. You fell and sprained your ankle? Go to the ER. You cut yourself really badly while cooking at home? Go to the ER. You were raped/assaulted/robbed/stabbed/shot? Go to the ER. You're having horrible cramps, excessive bleeding, think you're going to pass out, and had a positive pregnancy test last week? Go to the ER, you're probably having a miscarriage. You took too much heroin? Go to the ER. You are hearing voices and seeing things that are not there, or you're suicidally depressed and you want to kill yourself? Go to the ER, and they'll find you a psychiatric hospital. You went out to eat and less than 2 hours later you're repeatedly vomiting and having diarrhea? Go to the ER, you probably have food poisoning.

But if you have an itchy anus/vagina, the ER is not the right place to go (you need a gynecologist). If you have a lump in your breast, the ER is not the right place to go (you need a gynecologist and a mammogram). If you have an infected hangnail, don't go to the ER; go to a local clinic, find a regular doctor. If you have a headache, cough, congestion and sore throat, the ER is the wrong place to go (go to Walgreens, get some Tylenol, Sudafed, and expectorant cough syrup, stay home, rest, and drink lots of non-caffeinated fluids). You have hemmorrhoids? Don't go to the ER, go to your primary care doctor or a urologist or gynecologist.

For a sensation of worms in/around your vagina and anus, or all over your body, you need a primary care physician, one main doctor who you see regularly, and one who can refer you to the appropriate specialists. You have a snowball's chance in hell of figuring out what the root problem is by going repeatedly to the ER. They are only going to rule out *emergency* problems.

Your best hope for a correct diagnosis and treatment/possible cure is to follow up with a primary care physician and getting referrals to appropriate specialists (like gynecologist, dermatologist, immunology/allergy doctor, etc.). Repeatedly going back to the ER for a problem that they can't find is only going to make them think you are a psych patient who refuses to get mental health care.

You might try taking Benadryl or Zyrtec every day for several days, to see if that stops the sensations of worms crawling in/on you. If either of those make the worm-crawling sensation go away, you're probably having some kind of allergic reaction to something, possibly a soap, shampoo, or laundry detergent.

You can also check for pinworms, which can cause an itchy/worm-crawling sensation around the anus/vagina (because they ARE worms). First thing in the morning, before you go to the bathroom, put a piece of clear Scotch tape over your anus and then remove it. Bring this to a doctor's office (or, if you have your own microscope, you can check it yourself) for them to check for pinworm eggs. If they find eggs on the tape, that's your problem: intestinal pinworms. (If you don't believe me, check WebMD or PubMed Health and you'll see that the tape test is a real test.)

Bottom line: If you want to solve this problem and get a correct diagnosis, see a primary care doctor or a gynecologist, make it to all of your appointments on time, do what they tell you to do, take whatever medications they prescribe, and go to whatever specialist doctors they refer you to.

But if you want to waste time and money over and over without getting any closer to a diagnosis -- and if you want to continue to suffer -- then keep doing what you've been doing (going to the ER repeatedly).

I understand what you're re saying about the ER. But don't you think it's strange that you are required to lump in a large amount of issues that are no big deal with energy issue that is serious and can even cause death for women. I know what you're saying about the ER not treating women's issues and not being able to diagnose them is correct because I went there and not only that they not help me when I have pelvic inflammatory disease which I know that there's no way that I could have known what it was or diagnosed on my own to know to go to a gynecologist, but also I could have died. They didn't even test me for STDs. I actually had to go to a few different emergency rooms before I finally got tested for STDs and was told that I needed antibiotics. I understand about the lump in the breast, I do not understand if someone is in serious pain or distress in his immediate need to see someone and it's a serious medical issue how they should just have to wait because it has to do with their vagina. I think this was written by a man and I think it's a load of ********. I think that if you going to the emergency room they should be able to see if you have worms and diagnose it. If it was coming out of your *** then you were a man then they would make sure that they got you on the proper medication they wouldn't send you out the door with worms coming out of your *** until you figure it out somewhere else. Not only is our medical system a bunch of ******** but so is the person who wrote this ******** for saying that women should just expect to take their vaginas elsewhere.
This may be because the emergency room is not a place to get things like this checked.  :)  Regular general practitioners, ob/gyns, clinics, planned parenthood are places to look into this.  ER's specialize in acute emergency care and not ongoing medical needs like std checks.  It's not their area of specialty.  So, my recommendation is to seek care in the appropriate setting to get the best answer.  luck to all!

Pinworms oh Lord i will have to say that is likely the culprit with that said, i also had blister rashes in the webs of my fingers, which sparked the initial thoughts of ringworm and later led to pinworms. Caused by nothing you’ve done wrong I’m assuming. I have a 3 year old whom loves to wipe his own *** and more then likely doesn’t wash his hands and puts them in his mouth. That’s it that’s how it all begins.

do you eat raw or undercooked meat or vacationed and drank contaminated water in a third world country? In Ethiopia it is customary to eat raw meat. Having worms in your vagina is a common occurrence and not really something to worry about. It is a common issue among Ethiopian women. I had Guinea Worms in my legs before and its a a lot worse than the worms in my Vagina.
