On March 7th I went in to my primary care physician for my yearly physical. I had some pink discharge for 1 week prior to this appointment . I assumed it was because my period was about to start. I should have got my period on or around March 5th or 6th. On March 7th was my physical, I told my PCP that I was late. When he did my pap he said I would likely start my period that night. I had a tinge of blood probably caused by the pap but no period. My pap came back normal.
March 10th – March 19th I finally got my period. It was a lot longer than normal and was a little heavier than normal. (Normal for me lasts 2-3 days with my heaviest day being on day 2.) On the 2nd day of this abnormal period I discharged a pink/whitish tissue and after that it was a normal period aside from how heavy it was. I called my PCP and told him about the abnormal period. He said it was normal to have heavy unusual periods once in a while.
March 20th My husband and I had intercourse. The next morning I had cramping and bleeding. The bleeding was lighter than a period but lasted 3 days ending on the 23. The mild cramping and bloating stayed.
March 25 My husband and I had intercourse again. This time bleeding lasted just that morning but cramping and bloating was strong again after subsiding to mild from before. I called my PCP on March 26, and told him what was happening after intercourse, He called me in a prescription for the cramping, but if it didn’t stop and I was concerned I needed to see an OB.
I didn’t wait I called an OB on March 27. I found one that could see me the next day
March 28 went to OB Told them everything above. They ran a routine pregnancy test by urine sample first thing. They told me I was pregnant. I told them I had a tubal done in 2008 when my last c-section was done. They ran another pregnancy test and got another positive. Considering I had a tubal with cauterization of my tubes, they took blood and wanted to see me for an ultrasound the following Monday. But if I had severe pain or started bleeding to go to ER.
Monday March 31 went in to ultrasound and follow up. The vaginal ultrasound showed nothing in the uterus but my blood work from Friday before showed HCG levels in the 400’s they said the pregnancy may have attached to my left ovary. (indicating they saw “something” on my left ovary). They strongly suggested an ectopic pregnancy and let me know the option. Before proceeding they wanted another blood workup done. They sent me to the hospital so the results could be in before the end of the day.
They called me with results that my HCG level dropped to 59. They said I already miscarried, but want to check another blood workup in one week. I am confused, I still have tenderness in my breast and swollen abdomen.
Could I still have a normal pregnancy? Why would they want to test again? I feel like there is something they are not telling me, and if I miscarried what is on my left ovary?
