Mood Swings & Menopause

I had a complete hysterectomy at 24 and thus have entered menopause.  I am now 33 and having all kinds of crazy symptoms. My doctor has me on Estradial and I have been on it since my hysterectomy.  In the last year, I would say that the symptoms including hot flashes, have been unbearable at times and have been more frequently and more severly.  He has increased the dosage since and where the hot flashes are subsiding, the mood swings are now way out of control.  Watching a commercial can literally send me into a complete crying tail spin.  I have tried over the counter hormone creams, vitamins such as black cohash and all kinds of other things that "older" ladies have recommended and nothing seems to be working.  I am not depressed or anything like that so i do not need those type medications.  And even more so, I now am experiencing weight gain and all kinds of other symptoms.  Please help with any and all suggestions.  My doctor thinks that "in time" the symptoms will begin to subside.  Well, I need help today.  The emotional roller coaster is becoming to much and its affecting everyday lifestyle.  i do workout 4 times a week.  I have heard diet has alot to do with it as well.  Is there someone out there that can help?  Thanks for any and all advice and respondents.

I was thinking of Premarin or some other doctor-prescribed estrogen cream for the vagina.  I wasn't thinking of Wild Yam cream or anything like that.  You might just see if your doc thinks you would get the effectiveness of estrogen without so many mood swings if you were on a cream instead of a pill.

Hii Annie:  Thanks.  Estradial is a pill you take everyday.  I have not tried the vaginal creams before.  The one I did try (beliece it or not and it sounds dumb) but you rubbed it around your waist, wrist and neck.  I know I know, retarded but thats what it said.  It didn;t work, go figure.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

Sorry, was thinking of estrace.  It comes as a pill that looks like one you eat, but it can also be inserted vaginally, (odd as it is that it would do double duty like that).  Can't remember how estradiol is administered.

Ask him about using a vaginal estrogen cream instead of a pill.  Or even about using the estradiol vaginally.
