NO period for 4 months seriously stressed!

Im 23 years old and  my husband and I are wanting to start a family sometime in the next year.  I recently went off the pill at the end of January and i still have not had a menstrual cycle.  I wasnt too worried at first because i had heard it was normal to miss a couple of cycles after coming off the  pill but now its been 4 months and still nothing.  Ive always been very irregular sometimes going 2-3 months without a period before BC but i was only 16 when i went on it so i hoped maybe i had outgrown it...wishful thinking.  Now every month i experience some pretty intense hot flashes generally towards the last week of the month (im supposing when i would be having a cycle) and i sometimes get other symptoms of PMS but no bleeding.  I went to the OB/GYN last month and after a very brief consult she decided i needed to have some tests run.  She feels its either because my body weight is too low or my body is just lying dormant from being on the pill for 7 years.  Right now im on a high protein diet to try and gain some weight which for someone who is naturally really thin and has been the same weight since my Freshman year of High School its pretty hard but im determined, or she suggested some hormone pills like BC but obviously allowing me to ovulate.  I really, really do not like the thought of taking more hormones i already didnt like what the BC was doing to my body so i feel like im stuck.  I really hope i can start a cycle on my own but its really frustrating.   I just want to know that im not the only who is either going through this or if someone has gone through it and has some answers.  HELP!!

The pill that helps induce your period is Provera and it is a progesterone pill not estrogen. It helps a lot of people get started it comes in 10mg usually and taken for 10 days.
I myself was not successful with it.

ive contimplated it but i really dont like what the added estrogen does to my body.  I already have anxiety issues but the extra boost of estrogen makes it even worse.  So while in theory it sounds nice to take pill that will jump start things i dont really know it its worth me getting anxiety attacks over.

I really think that you should take the hormone that induces your period.
