Pain under and on side of breast

I have sharp pain under and on the outside of my right breast.  I haven't seen an ob/gyn about it as it just started today (wed 25th) so not sure if I need to yet.  It doesn't hurt just when using the muscle or lifting.  It hurts on and off.  It gets really bad when laying on my right side so sleeping is hard.  It eases slightly when laying on my left but not much.  Is this something that I should get checked immediately or is it just muscle pain?  Really worried about breast cancer but can't feel any lumps in the breast at this time.  Any advise or similar experiences???

Sounds to me like some of you could be suffering from a hiatal hernia.  These are hard to detect.  I had test, after test, after test... and none of the tests were giving me answers.  Finally, my chiropractor discovered it.  My actual physician couldn't find it, my chiropractor found it within 10 minutes of my visit.  He then fixed it on the spot.  And the pain has diminished.

My pain consisted of pain around the left breast, both armpits, center spine, center of the chest, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, pain down the left arm.

I hope this can help.

I'm a 25 year old guy and the other day on the right low side of my breast area i had a slight sharp pain and then it disappeared and then if i move sometimes it hurts too. i felt about to see it there was a lump but i cant feel anything. dont know if i am doing it right or not. to touch it normally is not tender or pain really just when i move. do you think it could just be muscular or what?

Thank you for the advise.  I'll try to massage it some.  It doesn't help that I have shoulder problems on the right as well but hopefully it'll ease tomorrow.  Thanks again for the comforting conversation.  It really helped calm by nerves.  I kind of panicked when it didn't go away this afternoon.

Mine never last longer than a day or two. Sometimes very mild on day three. I hope it goes away by the morning after you've had a good nights rest. Try and drink lots of water tonight and tomorrow. Sometimes water helps work wonders.

Hopefully - I did have that happen before too.  Not funny when it's hurting but funny later. :)  I'll try some pain meds and muscle relaxer (otc so not too strong) and maybe get some sleep.  How long did it take to go away?

OTC stuff is what I use when I'm in pain. My doctor only seems to give prescriptions for ibuprofen so I just buy it at the store instead.
Just a story for ya, I swore I was having a heart attack, or serious heart burn one day because I had the worst pain in my chest and it wouldn't go away, especially if I moved in certain directions, almost all directions. I felt real stupid when I realized that the wire was poking out of my bra and digging into my skin. My husband laughed about that for days, I didn't think it was very funny.  :)

Thanks that helps to know that it happens to others.  I wore a good bra to work Tuesday and as I'm a receiving manager at a retail store I moved alot putting up stock, etc.  I don't usually wear the good bras to work to keep them from getting messed up.  I was hoping that it was from the underwire in the bra rubbing on the outside of the breast.  Did you take anything special for the pain or just OTC products?  Aleve helped some today but worried about sleeping.

I have had the pain on the side of my breast before too. It's kind of a weird pain though because I can't exactly pin point where the pain is coming from. I don't know if yours is similar but mine feels almost like my breast is stretching or ripping even though it's not. I always blamed mine of a pinched nerve or muscle.
I always let my just subside or I massage it and it helps a little. I don't have breast cancer because I get checked for it by my doctor at my yearlies and was just checked for it a couple weeks ago.
Don't worry yourself too much but if it gets worse than call your doc and ask, it never hurts to get some reassurance from a doctor.
