Period lasting more than two weeks with clotting?

Hello, this is my first time on this website and since I couldn't find an answer to my problem on other sites I thought I might get an answer here.
First of all, I'm 17 years old...
My period usually lasts 6-7 days, and I'm also regular. However, during the past 4 months I've noticed that I've become more irregular than I was before. Aside from this, two months ago my period lasted for about 2 weeks, and when I went to the doctor he told me that it was most probably due to stress (school mostly)
However, this month my period started normally. I didn't have any heavy bleeding at all and didn't feel any pain (I never do). After the 7th day I thought my period might be extended because of stress, but now it's been almost 3 weeks and I've noticed a lot of clotting. First the clotting looked more like dry-ish blood but now the bleeding seems more bright and so do the clots.
I think that it is partially due to stress since my exams start in less than two weeks, but it can't be the only reason! or can it be?

You need to go back and see your doctor. They should be able to give you something to stop the bleeding - bleeding that long is not good on you. Can make you tired and unwell and you definitely don't need that during exam time!

Since this has happened more than once then I would say stress probably isn't the cause. Stress is more likely to delay your periods - not make them worse. See your doctor and ask them to look into what could be causing this.

I use to go through that but I thought it was normal I never thought it was because of stress, but if that's what the Dr says then, that's probably why.. All females are different some have their period for 3 days 4, 5, 6, or 7. And I'm like yourself I have it for 5 or 7 regular and if I eat stuff like hot sauce, lemons, limes, orange juice when I'm on my period, it makes my period last longer..
