Pregnancy Question

I have been on this forum before and have asked advised about getting pregnant.  Well I am now pregnant.  I will be 10wks this wednesday.  I have had 2 ultrasounds already, found out that I had twins but one of them did not make it. The dr called it vanishing twin syndrom.  Anyways, the baby that is alive is doing well so far.  My question is, is this.  I have been noticing a werid smell every time i urinate, is that normal.  I have been reading pregnacy books and cannot find anyting about this.  I am wondering if its normal to have a werid smell when urinating.  Its doesnt smell like what urine smells like, its a different smell.  Sorry to be gross, but i was wondering it is normal.  Also I notice my urine a werid shade of yellow, its not dark, its hard to discribe the shade, but it is different looking compared to what it looked like before i got pregnant.  Can anyone help on this.  thanks

Absolutely! Everyone thought I was crazy when I asked them!! I doubt it's the vitamins, though. I take pre-natal vitamins every day and have (for ever it feels like) because my dr. wanted me to have them in my system before getting pregnant.

I wish you the best!

Yes - I would avoid the sweeteners when pregnant.. I know it's hard to drink all the water you're supposed to but maybe try something else like a squeeze of lemon juice to flavour it.

And I noticed in pregnancy that urine smells different with or without the pre-natals and it's apparently totally normal. Apparently it's the new hormones that cause it to change.

My dr reccommende me not to drink anything with the "fake" sugars in it. Diet drinks have a carcinogen causing agent in them. I may have been overcautious in not drinking the lite stuff, but a healthy child is worth more to me.  Do you like fruit drinks? You do have to drink more when your pregnant as your blood volume increases and you can get dehydrated much more easily.  Congrats on your pregnancy and best wishes to you! tmv

Thank you all for the advise.  yeah i am taking prenatal vitamins.  This is good info to know.  I do have another question that I have.  I am not a big water drinker and i know I have to drink plenty of water.  What I do like, is the Crystal Lite on the go ice tea packs that I put in my bottle water.  I read the box and it says its 99% caffeen free.  Is it ok to drink the ice tea and still get my water intake from that. there is not alot in the pack and i think i am drinking more the water then the tea mixture.  someone please let me know if ice tea on the go packs are ok to have.  I love to drink those.

Anew smell is normal and so is color change-due to the fact that your prenatal vitamns are changing it.  For the color to change a little more drink a lot of water to make sure you are very hydrated.

Weird smells are totally normal. I think at least- I have them too!   i also was doing a gender quiz and it asked the color of the urine so that might explain the color change.  I would not worry at all if I were you.  Sounds like everything is fine!  good luck

Are you taking a prenatal vitamin? If you are, that could be responsible for the different smell/shade of urine.
