Questionable symptoms.... suggestions?

For the past six months my period has been changing from very consistant (the same every month and always on time) to getting short and light, to getting really clotty. For the past month and a half i have been getting really nauseous at night as well as many cramps(which i never used to get before) and a stabbing squeezing pain in my ovaries. I took a pregnancy test today and it came back negative and its been 3 months since any sexual activity. About a year ago my doctor was pondering the idea that I may have PCOS due to hormone fluctuations but decided not to diagnose me or do any more testing. My question is has anyone else had a similar situation and what do you think it may be?

Well they were doing testing because i had borderline high prolactin with massive migraines for not being or ever been pregnant so they did hormone testing. Then they found my testosterone was a little high and my LH/FSH factors fit the description too. I guess the second time they tested everything went back down and they said ' your fine nothing to worry about, just a blip' i didnt get an MRI(that they wanted done because they thought i may have had a benign petuitary tumer) a month prior for them to tell me it was just a blip in my hormones. My hormone doctor even said they wanted more testing done so they could monitor it and make a diagnosis but my other doctor didnt think it was important. So a year later and i have been feeling like crud and im pretty sure it was my hormones, just wanted to see what others thought

Hm.  What was your doctor's basis for not following up on PCOS?  Did he take a wait and see approach or rule it out entirely?  I'd revisit it.  Also, hormonal imbalances can cause these types of issues.  So, perhaps some blood work to determine your levels would help understand what is going on.  Being irregular is something that can happen but the short luteal phase is something to figure out if you plan to work on having kids at some point.  So, I'd just talk to your doctor about this.  good luck
