Random Fainting Episode

HI on Saturday night while standfing talking to a friend at the pub I suddenly felt dizzy, nauseous and then just fell to the ground and blacked out, totally unconcious for two minutes.  When I came around I vomited twice in the first few minutes then again 3 more times as my brother drove me home.  I was not drunk or even close.I hadnt eaten much all day (in fact the least I've eaten in a while...just forgot to really) and I'd only had three alcoholic drinks.  The ambulance came and did the vitals (blood sugar, blood pressure, temperature etc) and all were in prefect range.  Is it normal to just randomly pass out tlike that with no history of ever doing it before and seemingly in good health.  I would think that the not eating thing would just make you really hungry, not pass out, and the paramedic said my blood sugar was fine and didnt think it was from that, so now I'm worried something more sinister may have caused it.  I did accept my third drink from a guy who left and gave it me on his way out but my fainting and vomiting dont seem to be normal symptoms of drink spiking.  Also I passed out only 10 minutes or so after drinking only half of that drink.  Should I be worried or see my doctor at this stage or do people just faint sometimes?????  Thank-you in advance for any responses

Oh no, now you've scared me.. I had put it out of my mind and have been feeling good. A few family members of mine have said that they have also fainted from jot eating all day do I just put it down to that. I don't think I can remember a day before that one that I hadn't eaten anything so it was very unusual for me. I can't afford to see a neurologist. Do most fainting episodes turn out to be non-serious? I can't imagine that everybody that faints goes to their doctor but do you really think I should even though I feel fine and it's been 5 days. What would they find now. Sorry for the questions but you have me thinking something's up now. Appreciate your info though.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For syncope/fainting to occur, either the reticular activating system in the brain needs to lose its blood supply, or both hemispheres of the brain need to be deprived of blood, oxygen, or glucose.

So it can be due to fall in BP, hypoglycemia, dehydration and inadequate electrolytes in the body, postural hypotension(orthostatic hypotension),, blockage of arteries supplying blood to the brain esp. the carotids, anemia, vasovagal attacks or underlying neurological conditions.

I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a neurologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

People do not just pass out for two minutes for no reason. If that were the case, we'd be stepping over bodies in the street!
Passing out with concurrent vomiting may be somewhat "normal" if you're totally falling down drunk, but you'd only had 2.5 drinks.........the point 5 being from the guy who left the bar.
Did you know this guy? Did ANYBODY know this guy?
You said, "but my fainting and vomiting dont seem to be normal symptoms of drink spiking." Do you know a lot about drink spiking? The "date rape" drug does not normally cause unconciousness or vomiting and it pretty much wipes out your memory. Your memory seems fine. But there are a great many things that a drink can be spiked with. Some of them incredibly deadly. Who knows? Maybe your copious vomiting saved your life. The fact that you fell unconscious and began vomiting only ten minutes after drinking 1/2 of the this drink could indicate that IF it had been "spiked," it was with something pretty potent.
I think it would be a wise move to see your doctor. More than likely anything that might have been in that drink is out of your system by now, but some blood work and a urine test just might show some traces of something. If the drink was not spiked, suddenly passing out is something that needs to be medically evalutated.
I'm sure everything will be fine, but I hope you have learned a valuable lesson.........it's one that we normally preach to women, but it happens to men, just not as frequently.........NEVER EVER ACCEPT A DRINK FROM SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW!!!!!! You should also never leave your drink unattended if you use the bathroom or dance. It's a bloody mad world we live in these days and it's sad that you can't seem to trust anybody. But it is what it is.
See your doctor because I think it's the smart thing to do and always have your friends' back, as they should yours, if your drinking in a public bar.
I hope you'll let me know what your doctor says.
Peace
