Regular Ovulation

I have been on birth control for about 5 years. For the last year I have been on YAZ. I did not have a period for about 8 months and then finally stopped taking to pill for about 6 or 7 weeks-only to receive a very painful menstruation. Since then, I still miss pills occasionally and am surprised that I haven't got pregnant. Overall, I don't take them regularly. When I get off them completely, how long does it usually take your body to "re-set" itself to ovulate regularly?? I know you can get pregnant any time you miss the pill; but it doesn't seem to be the case in the last 6 1/2 years with my husband. I am 20 years old if that helps?! Also, are there any medications that could lower the chance of getting pregnant?? Thank you.

hi there , do you want to be pregnant ?? i'm a little confused are you asking about the medication because you are on some and are wondering if thats whats affecting your fertility ?? i was on the deppo (birth control injection) for 6 years i came of it in jan 08 i had my 1st period 5 weeks later but they was very erratic and i was bleeding like every 2 weeks and it was a dark colour it took a few months for my cycles to return to normal, i didnt get pregnant till nov , sadly that ended in a miscarrige in december 08 and now i'm trying again , so you see it can take a few months for your body to reset and even very healthy fertile womaen still have the odd month they dont ovulate , have you tried charting ?? i have started taking my tempeture its low before ov and rises after i reccomend it if you want to know if you ovulate , you see your temp wont rise if you dont ovulate as its a hormone released by the follicle thats holds the egg that makes your temp rise after ov no rise no ov :) i hope that helped , p.s if you are trying to get pregnant theres a great thread called cycle buddies you can find it on my profile , its got a great bunch of ladies over there all ttc x

I don't think this is the right forum for you.  Not sure which one to go to ...

If you don't want to get pregnant and are having trouble taking the pill...you should talk to your doctor about other forms of birth control...such as the patch or mirena.
