Should I be worried or is it normal??

Okay, so my pregnancy has been perfectly fine.. the only problem I have are the low blood sugar 'sugar spells'... Other than that things are just fine n dandy.. Well I had a little problem just now, and I'm not sure if I should worry..
I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was some blood. I wiped like 5 times until there wasnt anymore. There is nothing on my panties, so could it be my bladder? I have very slight cramping, and it wasnt alot of blood, just enough to scare me. I really dont feel like its a potential problem, and rushing to the ER or Urgent Care, but I could be wrong.
I have work at 3pm (pacific)... So I hope I get answers before I go so I know if I should call in or not.
I'm just a little concerned. I know the rules of pregnancy about cramping and blood, but like I said, it wasnt like gushing out, and I'm not in serious pain, so I'm wondering if it's normal...
Hope to hear from someone in an hour
Thanks
Jen

Now that is irritating. You will never know what you will or won't do until you are in that position. Seriously, your view on a lot of things change when you have kids.

The mom was trying to be responsible, she asked the most logical person there, the employee that makes the dang cookies. To save you and your bakery from a future lawsuit, you need to post a  sign up similar to DQ's. You as an employee need to know what is going into the items you sell, if not, you need to have someone on hand that can offer that information. Feigning ignorance and then getting upset because you were called on it doesn't alleviate your part in the matter. You may be a good person, and people do make mistakes. I would have apologized profusely and immediately taken steps to fix it and worked on making sure it never happened again.

Your analogy with regards to chlorine and a pool is obvious way to avoid the allergen, but what about the chlorine present on tap water? How would you feel if you got a "not that I know of" from the water company? I, personally, would be irritated as all get out. If they don't know, who does?  Really, Jenni, this isn't an attack, but another perspective on the situation.

well, i really didnt wanna focus on anyones "nuts" issue...but if i had a child allergic to nuts, i would feel/hold the belief that everyone is ignorant on the subject. do you know what i mean? i would "assume" everyone out there knows nothing and act accordingly. jennis response would make me say..oops nevermind then. i used to work w. this little boy in a preschool who had/has an allergy to peanuts. it WAS NOT easy. there is so much that has traces in food that we wouldnt even think would. maybe that mom is new to all this but my philosophy is..why take any chances? just say no or have a back up in mind if its a special treat. kids normally understand their "illness" or whatever you want to call it and usually dont make a fuss.
anyhoo, jenni, i take it the bleeding subsided? i can see you didnt take my advice and lay down as you were shoe shopping!!! im so cheap, 11.99 sounds like a lot to me!! for baby shoes? or for you?
what about having an internal on wed. was that an option for the bleeding? did you have one? please just take it easy ok? lots of rest. dont over do it or you may regret it if you start to bleed again. take care of my neice!!!! hee hee.
so what did you put in your mans food to make him poo poo like that? i am laughing cuz my man came home from watching football late this afternoon (wish i could take off and be gone) but.... thats a whole nother can o worms (sorry maryheather). he was in the bathroom and im like, what did you eat while you were out today?, i didnt even cook supper yet and you are ******** your brains out. then the spray begins to sound. its a guy thing.
no, does he eat spicey, greasy foods? that'll do it. whats with the feces talk suddenly?
take care all!

Quite honestly, it's not about taking sides.  People were trying to explain the significance of peanut allergies.

Jenni, you know I'm crazy about you but you should have researched that one a bit more.  It's your product, you should be knowledgable on it.

Let me give an example.  I am a programmer/statistical analyst.  I create the reports that the accountants use to do the budgets, forcasts etc...  If they were to ask me, "Is this particular aspect of inpatient claims exlcuded from the numbers?"  My response, "Not that I know of."  What do you know, it was.  My numbers now cost the company $50 million dollars.  This actually did just happen in the company I work for (no, not because of my numbers).  Sr. Vp in the accounting area was fired 3 days before Christmas.  Turn it around.  The child dies because they ate peanuts.  Lady sues your bakery and YOU (she can do that) because you brushed off her question.  Lady wins easily because it was negligence.  Even if she was partially to blame.  It's over though.

That pain down in your vaginal area is caused from your ligaments stretching.  It got so bad with my daughter I would have to sit down if I didn't want to fall down.  With my son, it wasn't so bad.  I think my body was destroyed with the first pregnancy.

I'm not really sure what is about men and bm's.  Between the amount of time they spend in there combined with number of times, it's a wonder we ever see them.

As for the bleeding.  Definately get it checked out, you are probably ok though.  Have you been wetter down there by chance.  Not trying to make a mountain of a mole hill but my girlfriend had some slight spotting at right around 20 weeks plus she was wetter.  She told the ob about it but they weren't concerned.  Turns out she was leaking amniotic fluid.  She ended up delivering her daughter at 31 weeks.  Baby is a big fat healthy one year old but definately was a stressful entrance into the world.  Really doubt though that it's anything.

I'll send you an email soon with updates on my situation.  I've been super busy demolishing the bathroom.

I'm on Jenni's side on this one.  Every bakery product could conceivable come in contact with nuts...they're all over the place inside a bakery....the pans, the counters, etc.  Moms are responsible, thats it.

PS..no one should ever resent anything that JoAnna has to say.  She's one of the smartest ladies I know and her opinion here is respected and valued.

Have a great night--

That's the link to my page. :-D
CONGRATS AMANDA!!!! wow, 20 more days until the BIG DAY! lol. I have 20 more weeks! hehe. Do you have everything ready for the new baby? Good luck, and I hope your baby stays in there until she's supposed to. But if she dosnt, I'm sure she will be fine. She's big enough to survive with little or no problems. :-D
I'm so lucky, I get that big shot in the butt! YAY ME! lol. I'm RH negative , and it's going to be oh-so much fun! hehe.
About the bleeding.... hehe, BACK TO THE ORIGIONAL SUBJECT!!!
I drink so much gaterade and water that I have to go pee like every 10 min. It's worse than an old lady. lol. Also, I felt her kick lastnight FINALLY (it was so cool!) and she's right ontop of my bladder. I felt a THUMP THUMP THUMP lastnight going to bed. :-D
But I have this pain that occurs suddenly and goes away, all day long, on the other side of my pubic bone. Like it's coming from my female area. I dont know what what it could be, not too fimilar with the reproductive region, just ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus,, the things babys come from. :-D
I know for sure I didnt scratch myself, or wipe too hard. It wasnt that kind of blood. So now I'm REAL curious.
My medical card hasnt come in the mail yet. I need to call about that tomorrow. So I hope nothing is going to happen and cost me a fortune. Thats one of the reasons why I didnt go to the hospital. A trip to the ER is $100 just to put your name on the list, and then all those tests they do for pregnant women and wound up with a $1000 bill for nothing. I'm having my medical through the state so it takes a while.
HANG IN THERE CADY!!!! hehe
I found these really cute shoes at Nordstroms today... only 11.99, I was amazed... Dont you love seasonal sales? lol
Gonna throw this out there too... My boyfriend has to go #2 everytime after he eats... He starts feeling uncomfortable within 10 min after he eats, then 20-30 min later is "WE GOTTA GO NOW!" lol. Do any of your DH's go poo THAT often? It's not like normal poo either, its the grose kind! I always worry, but it's kinda funny too. lol.
K, I'm gonna get. TTYL! :-D

The thing with the almond was rediculous... I stick to it in believing it was the mothers responsibility.. "not that I know of" DOES mean that its not for sure wether it does or not. It's a human guess.. Saying "I dont know" makes alot of people mad in saying "well, why dont you know? you work here" I work at a store where alot of rich people shop... I've been yelled at because a lady didnt like MY writing on her cake, and I've been yelled at because there wasnt a certain toy in for a cake a lady wanted, or she didnt like she sample, blah blah blah. I live in an upscale southern California area, and I've worked at the local gym, and man, could they be rude.. Its like "holey sh**, stop the world and I'll get off!" If my kid was allergic to pollen, I wouldnt bring her in a florest, if she was allergic to pool chorline, I wouldnt bring her to a pool party, she could get splashed or touched by the other kids.. If my kid was allergic to nuts, I definately wouldnt attempt to buy something, or feed something to her without knowing FOR SURE what the ingredients are, and what they could have come in contact with. Cookie manufacterers make all sorts of stuff, and maybe something wasnt washed correctly, or sanitized correctly, or someone wasnt wearing gloves, or washed their hands right after touching something allergetic. I'm allergic to latex, so wherever I go(especially the doctors, dentist, etc) they write in BIG BOLD letters, LATEX ALLERGY so they wash their hands and wear the uncomfy vynal gloves. (hence the reason I got pregnant) hehe. :-D
K, I'm over that subject... It still makes me mad though, she was wretched!

I agree that for future reference 'I don't know" is a much better response. To have someone say "not that I know of" and they are the one who bakes the cookies, is a lot different than asking another customer. Does this make sense? I mean because who better to know than the person actually making them, right?

Being a mom, I can see her frustration. Knowing that my child's life literally is on the line would make me snap if I had gotten what I believe to be an informed answer, only to find out it was wrong. Part of being a mom is protecting your kids, but another part of it is doing those "little things" like stopping at the bakery for a treat. You never know when one of those little things becomes a lifetime memory for them. To have something so innocent turn into something so horrific would be awful to say the least.

Anyway, no one here thinks you were being malicious. I can guarantee you that when you have a few months of taking care of your baby under your belt, even without the allergy, you will see what turns otherwise reasonable women into fiercely protective bears!

First of all, find me the quote that stated Jen didn't care if the child lived or died?  And what verbal lashing?

How do you know that the mother didn't misunderstand what she said, or heard incorrectly?  Its much easier to misinterpret "Not that I know of" vs. "I don't know".

It IS the responsibility of the parent, first and foremost. I believe I said that.  But, IF the parent asks, it is then the responsibility of the merchant to KNOW what is in the product, or to say they don't know, which is by far the safest of responses.

What if the child was newly diagnosed, and the mother is still learning the ins and outs of avoiding nut products?  Perhaps she thought she was doing the right thing by asking.  And just try for a week to scrutinize every content of every box, can or bag in your entire kitchen.  Try to imagine telling your child that he/she can't have this or that every minute of every day.  Try going out to eat for a week, grilling the waiter about every single ingredient of every single food that could go into your childs mouth.  Try sending your child to a birthday party and having to either go to the hostesses house and look at every item in HER kitchen, or tell her about the problem and trust that she'll be vigilant?  Perhaps it would be easiest not to ever let your child out of the house.

All any parent can do is to try their best.  But everyone has to learn somehow.  As I said, perhaps this parent was just learning.  As Jen is learning what to say or do in a future similar situation.

I really resent your intensifying this discussion by saying I was bashing her, and saying that Jenni didn't care if the child lived or died.  I work in a profession where you can never assume that a member of the public is as educated as we would like.  You must ALWAYS err on the side of extreme caution in the event of something that could be life or death.

hey girl...
sorry you are so worried. i know that i would be too. when i was pregnant, i think everytime i peed i checked the TP for blood..the whole 9 mo. i never saw any except when i was ready to go into labor. i think its called "bloody show?"
anyway, its too early for you for that. you said you had an ultrasound wed? did you have any pelvic exam? sometimes after that a bit of blood will come out. also, when you wipe, not all blood found on the TP is from the vagina. maybe you wiped too hard and its a bit of rectal bleeding or could be a hemmoroid.
either way you are doing the RIGHT thing by getting checked and calling out of work. it sounds as if you are definitly over doing it all with the lifting, exercising. lay down and put your feet up. no more moving around.
post back and let us know.

ps: glad you all got a laugh outta my post. i didnt know that was the last thread. i thought there were a few more that could be added. take care all!!!

I have 5 kids, none of which are allergic to nuts. However I know that practically EVERY bakery uses nuts or nut products and our local grocery chain, Publix, bakery places a warning on ALL of their baked goods that nuts are present and this product may have come into contact with nuts. I beleive that it is the PARENTS job to insure the safety of their children, and if I had a child that was allergic to nuts I would NEVER buy a product that was questionable. Why should Jenni be held responsible and take the verbal lashing simply becasue this woman may have been having a bad day. To accuse her of not caring if the child lived or died is simply rediculous!! Jenni answered the woman's question in such a way that DOUBT should have been in the "mother's" mind. She told her, "Not that I know of." That is a perfectly reasonable answer, but one that should leave the mother questioning and then WALKING away from the cookie! And like I said, EVERY mother with a peanut allergic child KNOWS that a bakery uses nuts and shouldn't even set foot into one. I know I wouldn't.

Now BACK to the original subject... Jenni, I am so glad you called the Nurse help line. And doubly glad you found your pants! LMAO  If you have ANYmore spotting of any kind, get your butt to the ER.. Okay??? Did you eat? Still taking in lots of water? You should be floating around your house. It does the body good and you will get plenty of exercise running to the potty every five minutes.LOL  And I will have you know, my daughter MADE me buy myself two pairs of hiphuggers and she LOVES it when I wear them. She thinks I look cool. I feel like I need to pull my pants up. LOL I grew up in the 80's where Levi's buttonfly were IT and yeah they went up to the waist. We also tucked our shirts in which my daughter says is a major NO NO. Shoot, her shirts are too tiny to tuck in. She likes to wear those shirts that allow a little tummy to show. I've had 5 kids. Believe me, no wants to see my tummy:)
kjsk's post had me crying and that ended that thread so I couldn't comment.. ARGH She is hilarious! Lot's of funny ladies here that keep me laughing which is GREAT medicine for the mind, body, and soul!
Oh and nudge your doc that you want to be out of work and see if he will help you out with a note or letter.. You DO need more rest and time to EAT!!

Parents of children with nut allergies, especially life threatening nut allergies get a little "nuts" (pardon the bad pun) b/c their children want to be like other kids.  It is really hard to have to scrutinize each and every item you buy (and even the ingredients to make homemade cookies can have them).  Who knows?  Perhaps she was having a bad day, whatever her reasons were--you should NOT have told her "not that I know of".  Say, as someone else suggested, that nuts and nut oils are used in many of your items and any item could come in contact with it.

I wouldn't have bought anything if you said "not that I know of", because it would have made me afraid.  Kids with these allergies can die from a single bite of anything with nuts or nut oils in them.  Yes, the parent must be super cautious.  But if she told you it was life or death, you should have simply said "I don't know".  As I said, the mom could have been tired, she could have misunderstood you to mean plain old "no", anything.  Her child could have died or become very ill.

Thousands of things have nuts in them, and it is very hard to raise a nut-allergic child.  You must constantly be on vigil, yet strive to help your child have as normal a childhood as possible--and sometimes that includes a store bought treat.  If the mother didn't know and asked you, you were obligated to tell her the truth--that you didn't know for sure.

I'm glad everything turned out ok.  Please don't take this as bashing.  A coworker of mine has a child with nut allergies who became very ill after eating at someone elses house-the hostess had been told of the childs sensitivity, but the hostess didn't look closely at every single ingredient in every can she opened.  Should the mother keep the child locked away in the house at all times to avoid possible exposure?  You do the best you can for your children, but we are all fallible sometimes.

Glad to hear things are going well for you of late, anyway.  Can't believe it's been 5 months.

I am so glad you called.  Are you going to go in Monday?  Oh they may be closed Monday it is a federal holiday.

Let us know what you find out.  It does not sound that bad though, so try not to worry too much.  I am sure everything is fine.

Feel free to vent.  I know exactly what you mean about the peanut allergy thing.  If my child were allergic, I would not take any chances.  I went to Dairy Queen the other day, and they had a sign at the drive thru that says that peanuts are used at this location and other products may come in contact with them.  It is kind of a CYA disclaimer, but it makes sense.  Who is to say that the product did not come in contact with them.  It is better to be safe than sorry.

If anyone asks again, I would just say that nuts are used in many of our products so there is a chance that it came in contact with them.  That should take care of it.

The dr. may put you off, but I doubt it.  It just depends if you bleed anymore.  I would ask for at least light duty though.  I love not working.  My hubby made me quit after we m/c the last one and then got pregnant again.  I was so hurt.  I really wanted to work (yeah right!).

I am glad the old guy cheered you up though.  That always makes things better.

I signed your guest book yesterday.  Your site looks great.

Are you gonna have a 4-D ultrasound done later on?  I was going to, but they wait until like 30 weeks, and I was going out of town for a few weeks then anyway, so I did not do it.  Now I just have 20 days until she is here, so I am getting anxious.  I just pray I don't go into labor before then lol.

Yes I read what kjsk said.  It was hilarious -- especially the feces part. LMAO

Take it easy.  Nothing strenuous for you for a while.  You gotta keep Cady healthy. :)

Yeah I called.. I explained to the nurse what's been going on, and she said that I do need to get checked out, but the ER isnt necessary. I dont have anymore pain, I just get cramping now and then, it's normal for me, and I've gone pee like twice since it happened, and nothings there.
You know how when you're on your period, and theres blood when you whipe, but whipe a few more times and its gone? Thats how this was, but not big blotches like a period.
And yep, I sure did find my pants! lol, my belly outgrew my jeans sorta.. I can still wear them but I feel like I have a 'muffin top' coming out from the waistline (ofcourse I wear those superlow jeans though...I'm more hipper than most of ya! hehe). lol. so I like to stick with my comfy goucho's. I need to get more of these, they're so comfy, and look really cute with just about anything.
Oh dear I hope my Dr. takes me off work, it's seriously a strain on my body.
Get this, I was working yesterday, decorating a cake, when this lady comes up, "does this cookie have any nuts in it? It's a life and death situation" Her kid is allergic to nuts, so I told her, "not that I know of"... So she said 'are you sure?'.. I was like... "suuure...." lol.. So she took the cookie anyway. A few minuits later she went IRATE on me saying there was almonds in the cookie, I should have known, why did I tell her, and walked away shouting "YOU DONT CARE BECAUSE ITS NOT YOUR KID!" I was thinking... geeeeze lady.. If you HAVE to ask, why get it? It's just a cookie. I mean, if MY kid was allergic to nuts, I wouldnt get ANYTHING that could even come within 100 feet of a peanut... ONly homemaid cookies for my kid...
So she complained to the manager, said I was being rude, unreasonable and a total b***c... Dude, my flippen butt. I just had this shocked look on my face that she was being so crazy wtih me. She's a mom, she should have known better than to put that responsibility on someone else. If I say "not that I know of" (I mean, I do bake the cookies, but it comes in raw dough already preshaped from the manufacterer) Then take it as its worth... It means, "i'm not exactly sure" So in mom translation means... HELLO DONT FEED THE COOKIE TO YOUR KID!
So that experience screwed my day/night up bigtime.
I HATE WORKING THERE! lol. So I told the sweet older man what had just happened and thats why I didnt have his cake done on time, and he just thought I was the sweetest thing in the world, and went to the manager and went on and on how sweet and nice I am, and how I went out of my way for him, and that he dosnt care what that lady says, I'm a good person, this n that. lol. So sweet! :-) That made my day a WHOLE lot better!
I have no idea how this story relates to my problem today, but I felt that I had to get it out. :-D

I don't think you really have anything to worry about since that is all the more blood there is.  Is it possible that you just scratched yourself or something?

As others have said, I do wish you would go ahead and get it checked though.  It is always better to be safe then sorry.

I know hospitals suck, but you should go get checked.  Although you might want to find your pants first.  Granted you will have to take them off after you get there, but I think they might frown on that in the waiting room.  LOL

Get used to loosing stuff and forgeting what you were saying and stuff like that.  It is all part of pregnancy.  I think the more kids I have the dumber I get.  :)

Take care girl.

Did you call the nurse yet? Did you find your pants?LOL Just trying to lighten things up. Seriously though, what have you found out? I was always told to go in for a check if I saw ANY blood and I really wish you would as well. And NO exercising tomorrow. Not until the doctor says it is okay to resume normal activities. That is an order! I mean it. And YES, drink lots of water and eat a hamburger girl!! 2 pounds?? This is your time to EAT and ENJOY!!! Not that you have to turn into a cow or give up your health standards you have set for yourself, but food never tastes better or is more satisfying than when you are pregnant. This is just one of the little pleasures you should indulge in. Just my nudge to plump you up. heeheehee
So did you call yet? huh? did ya? Go get it checked out and then let us know you are ok or you know we will be worried. So get your pants on and go!!

Okay, so I changed my mind about going to the hospital.. I really dont think it's that serious. I had an ultrasound on Wed, after I had the real bad abdominal pains, and she seemed perfectly fine.. She's very healthy and very active. I cant feel her yet, but sometimes I wonder because I get some sharpness in my side where her feet are, and I think shes digging her feet where they ot not go. :-)
I'm taking it easy today, going to drink lots of water, and I probably need to eat more. I've only gained 2 pounds.
I excersized this morning also, I did 2 miles on a tredmil set at 3.2 with a 1.0 incline. I felt lightheaded on the 6th lap, but finished the 2 miles. I'm determinded to stay fit but I have my limits. (Id normally do a 4.0 on a 11 incline for 90 min before preg.) Although I honestly dont believe that excersizing hurt anything, I just think I'm dehydrated, and my body is showing me some warning signs. Nontheless, I'm making an appointment with my doctor on Monday to get checked out. Her heartbeat was perfectly fine, and so was her weight, so this is some sign that my body is giving me to feed it more and drink more water.
My friend just called me to let me know that there is an advice nurse at the hosiptal where I'm having her, and I can tell her whats going on, and she'll advise me on her opinion. Better than the ER that I called, they couldnt tell me squat because its a liability thing. Anyway, I lost my pants and I need to find them. lol. been walking around in my undies for the past 20 min looking for them.

Oh yeah, I close in a bakery, so I get all the cleaning, lifting, and scrubbing to do... I've strained a few muscels, and it always gives me backache and and swollen ankels... Plan on going on leave in a few weeks anyway.

Yes I do have abdominal pain... I've had it since Wed. Wed I had it real bad for a few hours then went away and my tummy expanded. and I'd have here and there since then. I didnt worry about it because ever since I was 2 mos. I've had pain. It's my first pregnancy, and I'm pretty thin so I've always thought my organs are shifting, but now that I saw blood I'm kinda worried.
I called in sick, so I'm getting ready to go to the hospital now. It might be nothing, but for my piece of mind, and all the 'what if's' it could be, I'm better off.
