Sudden weight gain, breasts are sagging, am concerned !!!

Hi,

I am 25 yrs. old female. I have gained some weight suddenly, as I have to work for 10 hrs. sitting at one place, precisely very near to the A.C. machine.

I am working towards weight loss. I have joined Gym. But my main concern is the sagging breasts. I used to have well shaped breasts and now it seems I have a 54 yrs. old woman's breasts.I can no longer wear the shirts and tops I used to without embarrassment. Absolutely no excercise seems to rectify that. I dont wanna go for surgery. Could you please suggest any other remedy?

The excercises I do at the Gym involve jogging, yoga and multi gym.
Thanks in advance.
Jenny

actually...i don't know about the bra thing.
i recently read about some studies done by the french about bras...one scientist took 33 sports-active women and had them go braless full time for a year, and basically their breasts all got firmer and stronger/smaller. another took 250 women and also had them go braless, and pretty much got the same results. that same scientist is now working on another experiment for going braless, but now for three years.
here's the source link, although you have to scroll down through quite a bit to get it:
there was also a similar study done on a smaller scale in japan, showing that bras actually increased sagging....
here's the source link - it's a little bit further down the page: http://www.007b.com/bra_sagging.php

i can understand your concern but some research shows that it is not really ppossible to tone sagging breasts back to shape. breasts are made of fat tissue, connective tissue and mammary glands. So as it doesnot have any muscle in them it is not possible to strengthen them through exercise. the pectoral muscles are below the breasts and any imrovement in the pecs will not lift your breasts. It happens when the fat or the glands increase in size and then gravity takes it toll and they are facing south ! When you loose weight the skin doesnot move back to original position and hence it seems 'loose' and sags. wired bras may be a good idea but nothing too tight or uncomfortable - this might reduce blood circulation. Some suggest vitamins and food with high nutritional value for increasing the elastivcity but that too seems doubtful. My suggestion spend on a good quality bra and dont worry too much about them.

I am not overweight, although I have gained some weight. My problem mainly is sagging breasts, in spite of not being overweight.I am loosing weight, but my breasts are not coming back to shape.Push-up bras are a good solution, but can I get breast cancer, if I wear those for longer duration?

you didnt really say how large your breasts are or how much you weigh right now but if you have lost any weight (or you are overweight) that will cause the ole girls to hang low..
yes, there are lots of breast exercises that you can do to firm them up! they are right in your gym!
a push up bra can be a temp. solution and can work wonders..hence the name the wonder bra!!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. They have definitely been much more helpful than I thought.

I don't have Victoria's Secret nearby, but there are some similar good stores out here, so I'll deifinitely consult them.

Push ups are something which my gym instructor suggested me today!!!...you are bang on target !!!!...I can't wear sports bras even if I want to...they dont fit me anymore :(

But anyways...life doesnt seem that bad...now that I have spoken to you people :)

Hi,

Thanks everone for your inputs.

No, I haven't tried any chest excercises, I always knew those were for guys, but that's a great idea, I'll ask'em.

I wear wired bra but that doesn't seem to be helping though(earlier I used to wear sports bra, now I can't even think of'em). But I recently heard wired bras might lead to breast cancer, so am kinda scared. Is there any special kind of bra I should try??

Thanks, Jenny

I love body by victoria secret.. If you can go to Victoria Secret(if you have one) ask them which they think would be the best help or try looking online.  I find them to be the most comfortable & supportive.  They can be a little pricey but I think they are worth it.  Good Luck =)

Chest exercises are probably what you need to do if you plan on working out. Sagging is usually from "looser" skin, loss of elasticity in the skin, so if you do push ups, for example, over a period of time things will tighten back up.

If you're okay with looking a little more buff and built up top, I'd definitely go for it!

Regardless it's healthy :D

I agree with going to victoria secret for some bra shopping. Don't wear sports bras if you can help it!

Exercise and a nice fitting bra definitely seems like the way to go.

I have the same problem. I have been losing weight and I have noticed serious sagging. I have tried different exercises and nothing. I have to say my breasts seem very "depressed" lol. So, I too would like to know if anyone knows of anything to help.
