Tongue Piercing?

I have a slightly complicated situation & have attempted to google it numerous times & have found nothing.

i have had my belly button pierced twice. my body kind of rejected it. i guess i have really tight skin so the discharge didn't come out instead it built up around the piercing and formed a gross little bump.  then. after that happening both times. i gave up and tried getting my tragus pierced which got really swollen and it hurt so i took it out.

i thought i was done with piercings but now i desperately want my tongue peirced. has anyone ever had any other piercing get rejected and then had the tongue be fine? i'm nervous that my tongue would reject the piercing if that's even possible.

i'm well aware of the chance of infection, chipped teeth, pain in the face, loosing my tongue, and maybe even dying so please don't waste your time with writing about all of those things. i have a specific question. can tongue piercings reject and was anyone else in my situation. that's the question i have please don't bother posting if you aren't going to answer it. thankkkk you!

hey I just talked to my sister she said gold is one of the worst things to get pierced with...oops my mistake..and she said that just because u get pierced with surgical steel doesn't mean u won't have a reaction... apparently theres different grades of surg steel and the best is implant grade...( beats me what this means) but she said if ur skin is that sensitive ask for titanium jewelry when u go that would be the one to try!!! good luck

thanks a bunch guys. i had tried a few different metals with my belly button. i had sergical steal in then switched to gold and then gave up. there was no difference with any of them. so unfortuantely i DID spend extra money on a gold one which didn't help anyways!! hahaha. what a waste. it was wierd because where i got my belly button done my friend went too and she also had to take hers out. i'd like to try getting it done again but somewhere else and this time take extra good care of it but i worry it'll just be pointless. i think i'll pass on the tongue because with my luck the worst will happen. thank you very much for your thoughts and opinions.

I’m allergic to surgical steel so I used plastic until it healed and then I witched over to the metal and was perfectly fine.

well my sister is a tattoo artist and body piercer... she knows a lot about this stuff and she definitely thinks u were possibly allergic to the metal that was used or u got an infection...some piercings are very hard to keep from getting irritated because maybe clothes rub them a lot or in the tongue food could get all over it...either way the tongue whether it goes right or not could be horrible feeling and ooze for two weeks...check what metals were used with ur last ones and maybe u might want to pay a little more for gold jewelry this time...by the way most of the terrible things u hear that can happen getting ur tongue pierced are just not true...except the teeth thing my sister has hers done 3 times not to mention a total of 8 in her cheeks and god shes spent a fortune on dentists and pain killers...just be careful chewing..haha...hope I helped good luck

it could be the metal they use that your body is rejecting.  It happened to me when I had my upper earlobe pierced ... I just tookout the metal they put in and put in a gold one ... that worked for me.

I had my belly button pierced and my body rejected that, it was awful. When I got my libray (sp) pierced which is under my lip, it was fine, so were my ears. What kind of metal were the piercings? I found I could only use stainless steel and I would be fine. As for the tongue, I guess the only way to know is to try it, if you want to risk it getting messed up. I never had the guts to try it, seems too sensitive of an area to me. My sister got it done and when she eventually took it out, part of her tongue is permantly numb.

"tongue piercings aren't nice to look at" - thats you opinion and not everyone elses, so try not to force it on others.

sarahgraceee - i wouldnt risk it just incase, i have mine pierced and have had no problems, but my skin heals fine.

A friend of mine had that happened to her. Her body rejected her tongue piercing and she ended up having a lot of problems, which took awhile to take care of. She was in a lot of pain, long after the piercing was removed. She has a hard time talking and eating and it was very painful. If I were you, I wouldn't take the chance of piercing your tongue. Tongue piercings aren't nice to look at and it's not worth causing yourself all kinds of  health problems.
