I WILL NEVER go on b/c again. Please ask questions not only about side effects when on B/C but what happens when you try to discontinue it. I was on it for 19 years b/c I thought I was being smart (focusing on career and education). Now that I have been off (8 months) ... I will NEVER go back on. The first 2 weeks I had problems with my moods. I would get angry SO fast, and could barely control it. I am normally very calm. For 6 months I lost my hair. I have lost at least one third. My skin became acne riddled. Huge...on face, back , and chest. The face has cleared ...the back and chest have not. I GAINED weight. A lot. It has been 8 months. I work out (swim/run) 5 x per week. I have not lost ONE pound. I have toned everywhere but cannot lose belly fat. Please be informed.
I totally agree.
Pharacutical companies have doctors and consumers rapped around their fingers. So many doctors prescribe drugs and birth control when it is not needed without telling them the risks or alternative natural way to help the condition.
I started BC when i was 15 because of prevention of ovarian cysts, I am 31 now. I stopped taking them when i was 26. I think that my body has gotten so use to taking the artificial hormones that my body stopped making them on their own.
I started having 2 periods a month a few years ago and nobody can figure out what the cause was. They thought i was not ovulating anymore and the solution was to go on birthcontrol. How whould that fix the problem BC stops you from ovulating. Doctors dont really want to figure out the cause is they just want to give you drugs to cover up the symptoms and give you more drugs to reverse or cover up the side effect of the drugs you already taken.
I did not take that specialist advice to cover up the symptoms of 2 periods a month. Instead i changed the hormones that i was injesting and did a detoxification with herbal supplyments. I eliminated beef from my diet and started eating all organic meats and vegetables and taking herbal supplments for hormonal balance.
It worked i am now getting one period a month. But i am now bleeding during sex and sometimes when i have a bowel movement still trying to get to the bottom of that.
I'm 21 and approx 123lbs....I've been on b/c for about 2 months now. So far I've experienced...
1. Headaches every so often
2. Cramps
3. Nausea after I take the pill
5. Tired constantly
6. Breast Tenderness
7. A bit of acne
8. Apetite change. (Loss or gain)
9. Occasional spotting
I havent noticed anything else. Just that. As for the whole you gain weight issue when on b/c; havent noticed that either. All I feel like is that I'm eating a lot all day; tho I know I'm not.
i use the patch and love it....the pill i feel is stressful.....but they are saying now that the patch isnt good....for u....but i dont understand b/c all the plp sue the company over the affects that it says on the box
I totally agree
i just got the pill a few weeks ago and am ready to start in a few days but the doctor never told me anything about it just said start when you get your period. I did not even want to go on it, as it is not for birth control it is for my bad acne and period pain and i read the info and it made no sense i had alot more questions then i first did. Now i know just take each tablet on the prescribed day and i am not steering away from that. eheh
I totally agree only yesterday my friend went to get a repeat prescription and was given the wrong one. The dr was asking her what one she was on she couldnt remember and he was like I dont know about them cos I dont take them! Thats very useful for someone new to it! (shes not new which made it more annoying cos she always has the same one and he didnt know what the name was) she later found out that it was discontinued and was just dumped on a different one.
I know when I went to ask I got some good info but wasnt told u can gain so much weight! I gained a stone (not fair!) which I still havent lost despite being off it a while now. And there are soooo many names and types!
I think something like the pill that is doing something to ur body is very important that it is well explained. Maybe we should make our own list! With experiences
