I'd either go back to the same doctor and say you think your thyroid medications are in further need of adjustment, or go to a different doctor. She should not have just shrugged her shoulders.
No I eat regular meals, Doctor only says She can't understand why. My thyroid was underactive and meds were increased with no luck.
Is there a specialist for these types of symptoms?
This all started after my open heart in 2002.
Thanks.
How constantly is constantly? Like, you eat all day long and large amounts? My gran used to eat all day, but she just was actually nibbling, and accidentally buying off her appetite by never sitting down to a full meal.
Have you talked to a doctor about this? The usual reason for being underweight is that you are burning off more calories than you are taking in, and he or she might prescribe some of the nutrition shakes to supplement your normal meals if that seems to be what's doing it.
But if you are sure that's not it, DEFINITELY talk to your doctor. I don't think getting thin is a natural consequence of aging, you might want to have a workup. Start with the thyroid.
