When do you ovulate while on the pill?

I have only been married for about a month and a half and am definitely not ready to get pregnant. I have been on the pill, but my monthly placebo pill week happens to be over valentines day weekend! If I assume correctly, I will be ovulating while on the placebo pills and before I start bleeding so we will need to use a condom or somthing, but what about after I get done bleeding? Do we still need to use a condom after the bleeding and before I'm done with the placebo pills?

So long as you took EVERY pill ON TIME each day and did not miss any, you should be fine.  Depending on the pill and specifically how it protects you (thinning the uterine lining and/or preventing ovulation), you may not even ovulate and your period is just breakthrough bleeding.  So long as you start the next pack on the day that you are supposed to and were good this past month, you will be fine on that day.

Hi there and welcome.  Well, it is important for a woman to know how her body typically works.  Here is how a typical cycle goes---  Day one of your cycle is the very first day of your period.  You start counting from there.  THEN, you ovulate about midway through your cycle---  so for most women, that would be cycle day 14 or there abouts.  Really, if not on birth control, consider yourself to be most fertile on day 14 but still quite vulnerable to pregnacy from day 10 of your cycle to day 20.  However, one can have an off month and ovulate at all times, hence the reason birth cotrol is so critical.

Glad you are on it!!  So, since you are on it----  placebo is sugar pills as you know.  the rest of the time, you are taking hormones to prevent ovulation----  you take the sugar pills to have a menstrual cycle to 'clear it out' in there.  But, you still wouldn't ovulate during that time as you've had the hormone in your system the rest of the days preventing ovulation.  You are still safe from pregnancy during the sugar pill phase.  They put those in just so that women can really keep up with the routine of taking their pill at the same time every day.

So, you should be good to go for Valentines day.  good luck
