Yasmin

I have been diagnosed with endometriosis since age 14.  Recently I was diagnosed w PCOS as well.  I am going on a vacation to Italy in Sept. & wanted no problems w a/f & so asked my doctor about getting on the pill (my husband & I had been trying to conceive.)  Started spotting on 7/5, right around when I was due to get my period, had a neg. pregnancy test, & so started Yasmin that day as a day 1 start. It is now 7/28 & I still have my period.  (I have used bcp in past, although not this brand & have never had this prob.)  The period started off ok- lighter & less cramping then usual but about a week in got heavier, although not as heavy as usual, but with big clots (quarter to golf ball size- sorry if TMI)& the cramping got much worse, as did pain on my right side down near the crease of my hip (kind of like when I have an ovarian cyst), & lower back ache on that side.  I called my doctor on 7/21 & he said to take 2 pills each day for 5 days & then start a new pack of pills at the normal rate.  I did that & the bleeding got worse then better.  Now I have been on the 1 pill a day dose for a few days & the bleeding is getting worse again.  Its almost like the start of another period.  Is this normal?  Any ideas? Please help because I am ready to lose my mind.

I took it and it did not do that to me. I had head aches and leg cramps, I also lot 10 pounds on it. I am now 120. I would not think this is normal. It is a low dose pill. You may need to be on something stronger to stop the bleeding. Yasmin is the only brand that has a different hormone in it so maybe you are reacting funny to it. I would ask to change asap.

I have just started to take yasmine as well to shrink my cyst and it made me literaly sick to my stomach. During the first week of taking it I had severe nausea and vomiting. In fact I could not keep anything down. When the vomiting diminished I developed swollen and tenderness to both breast. All of these things were side affects caused by Yasmine. My GYN said it was my body getting used to the bcp. I know your not experiencing any of these things but it may just be your body adjusting to this particular bcp. I had previously used bcp prior to Yasmine and didn't have any side affects. Keep your GYN posted on any other changes and make notes.
