abnormal smear result and HPV???

i have had two abnormal smear results in the last 6 months so i am going to the hospital to get it checked..

with the first smear they done a STD check. nurse said i was clear except for abnormal smear result..

i have read abnormal smear results can be caused by HPV, so my question is HPV would have been picked up in the STD check and the nurse would have told me?

cheers

STD tests and HPV are two seperate culture tests. You will not be tested for HPV unless you ask your gyno.

HPV is a  very common occurance. But it seems that it would have come up on any STD testing. Abnormal paps are also very common. I've had several- one which resulted in the discovery and removal of pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. HPV doesn't usually have any symptoms, except for the string that causes warts. If you do have HPV you should just be more aware, AS YOU ALWAYS SHOULD- and have protected sex.
