dark brown discharge

i have been having really dark brown discharge with some clots for a week now. my period is due in a few days and ive also just started bleeding today dispite the fact im not on the placebo pills of my birth control yet. ive also had a lot of bad cramping associated with the bleeding, i dont know if i should see my doctor or wait for my period to see if it goes away or what..

For the first 6 months after starting birth control, you cycle can be a bit wonky, with break through bleeding, etc. If there is no odor, I'm thinking it is breakthrough bleeding.

How long have you been taking your birth control? Is there any odor to the discharge?
