fluttering in the vaginal area

Hi, i just came to your site for the first time and i read a story about a young lady that is having the same symptoms that i am having and i was so relieved because i thought that i was going crazy. I am looking for answers as to why i am experiencing fluttering in my vaginal area. It started about 8 months ago and has been ongoing every since on a regular basis. The best way for me to describe how it feels is that it feels like a butterfly is inside of my vagina. It even does it when i have my period. It feels like the inside of my vagina is lightly vibrating or something. I cant concentrate on anything, i cant focus and i cant sleep at all!! Its just that irritating and it is driving me crazy! I told my doctor about it and he did a pelvic exam, took cultures, urine sample, did a pap smear and the whole nine yards but everything is coming back normal so he cannot figure out what is wrong with me. It is scary because i dont know what is wrong either but i know what i am feeling. Can someone please help me before i lose my mind. thank you.

I concur! b/c my fluttering didn't begin until I stressed my back. So I too believe it is a nerve..
now whether damaged or just a muscle issue?? we'll have to seek medical attention.
But a gyn won't help... in my humble opinion.
I'm seriously thinking about a chiropractor .. I have hip problems [catches & spasms] too.... which seems to coincidentally begin all about the same time.

Have you found out what was causing the twiching in your vagina?? I have been having this problem for the past 10 months, I've gone in debt from medical bills, and I still have no answers. PLEASE tell me if you found out what it was or if anything has helped. This has really taken over my life and has caused me to become depressed so please help!

Also related to the eye muscle spasms (which I sometimes have) dehydration or stress can bring on involuntary muscle spasms. Maybe just a different area spasming? Drink up and see if that helps?!

That makes perfect sense! Ptera1140. I have been recently having pains and discomfort in my neck and right about the same time, the fluttering started. As most have said, it doesn't hurt but it is annoying as hell. I'm 56 years old, post menopause and have no issues with my sex life. This thing is just a distraction but I wish it would stop. You may be on to something with the nerve connection.

The best way I can describe what I'm feeling is it feels like involuntary kaegel exercises, but more rapid. It almost feels like those muscles are spasming. For me there is no pain, just very annoying. It also makes me feel as though the muscles are trying to keep something from falling out. I afraid something is wrong and the doctors just can't detect it. I don't take medication normally and was just prescribed gapabentin and was wondering if anyone else is taking it. This is the only medication I'm on and the only change in my life. So I'm wondering if this is a side effect that hasn't yet been discovered. I just want this to stop
