no period and not pregnant?

im 20 years old, is there anyway i could be hitting menopause entirely to early? i havent had a period in almost 7 months now, and im deffinately not pregnant. and before i always either had them way to early, or late but i always had my period. when i was 13 i was put on birth control to regulate my periods, after my 18th birthday my insurances expired and i couldnt afford the pills anymore. here recently i have found out that from my biological family, on my dads side the females have trouble getting pregnant their egg doesnt fall but every 2-3 months, something to do with the estrogen, and blood levels. so i figured maybe i inherited that, but even still i have developed hot flashes, very bad mood swings, and cramps as if i was going to start my period. but still have no luck, eventually i want kids when im older but im scared this has taken my chances away from me. it breaks my heart. im not sure what is going on with my body, but i know its deffinately not right.  could it be side effects from birth control? is it possible for girls my age to hit menopause? or is it a genetic thing? mixure of both?

Crystalgodess, just to clarify, you're never "too young" or "too old" for anything. It's impossible to make blanket statements like that.  I was in my late 30's when I started going through menopause.  It could be because I have other medical issues, it certainly wasn't stress because we were living a fairly carefree life, loving where we were stationed at the time.  The stress came years later for whatever reason, but that's another issue.  We have no children, we simply decided it wasn't for us, so it was not a big issue for us. But, it did happen.  Never say never.

Your def not going thru mentapause. Women hit menapause in their 50's possible 40's your way to young for all that. Your silly, If your worried about not getting your period this is a good time to you, 7mnths is a very long time. Iv gone 3mnths w/o it my Dr. said it was all due to stress. You stressing over all this is delaying your period further & further. I having difficulties having children, do not worry what so ever about this either. Their are medications, procedures that help you get pregnant. Stop stressing & get checked, this way when time is right to have children you already know how your body works.

this sounds a bit like me !

go and have an ultrasound of your pelvis, your gp refer you.

this is exactly what was happening with me and it turns out i have cysts on my ovaries, polycystic ovarian syndrome which is very common, and not as scary as it sounds.

google it !
