question about prolactin

any feedback and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I m/c in Feb 2010. i did have some discharge from my breast which i assumed to be milk. i talked to my doc and he told me this was normal and to wear breast pads or put cabbage leaves on my breast and this would dry them out. which i did and i had no more discharge. ok fast forward. for the past month or so i have had a clear liquid discharge from my breast. at first i thought i was trippin but it definitely coming from my nipples. i took a hm pg test last week and it was negative so i know im not pregnant. i read on the internet this could be a sign of prolaction-a hormone in the body that can have an affect on my ovulation. so my question is have any of you ladies experienced this or have friends/fam that have? what was the outcome? i plan on making a doctors appt. which im not excited about but i want to get to the bottom of this so i can get pregnant. jus thought i'd ask here first.

Yes, often after miscarriage the body takes a little while to settle down and no longer provide the hormones it was during pregnancy.

The pituitary gland makes prolactin. In the case of non-pregnancy it is a sign the pituitary is not behaving correctly. You would need to be tested for this. If you produce prolactin, then the pituitary gland will not be sending the message to the ovaries to release an egg, hence no ovulation.

The only time I had discharge like you mention and not be pregnant was when my thyroid levels were totally off. Again the pituitary looks after the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, known as TSH.
Ask your doctor to run a FULL thyroid function test, including FREE T3 and FREE T4, along with the TSH.  Also get the pituitary tested. Pituitary gland issues are NEVER cancerous, but often have little tumours that are easily sorted out and hopefully you can get pregnant and enjoy motherhood!
Cheers
